What is an 'honor score' ?
« on: May 12, 2007, 08:19:32 PM »
How's that for a n00b question?  I've heard the term thrown around but don't know what is the criteria for an honor score.  800 series? 300 game?  Does it have to be in a tournament?  And is it like an ace in golf in that if you get one, it's then customary for you to buy the drinks?

I believe "Honor Scores" are scores of 298, 299, 300, and any thing over 800 and they of course have to be sanctioned...

Trying to figure out what's comparable to an Ace in golf has been going on here for a long time.  For some, it's a 300 game or 800 series, for others it's the 7-10 or Big-4 split.  For me, it's the 7-10 or Big-4, as those involve more luck than skill, anyone can do it at any time, and pros aren't any more likely to do it than amateurs.  You don't hit the golf ball or throw the bowling ball expecting to get either, you just try to hit it as far as you can, you try to get count on the splits and you get incredibly lucky.

Some centers will put your name on the board for your accomplishment but instead of having an asterik (*) behind your name you have nothing. The * means your score was sanctioned, in the center I bowl at. But thats the criteria for Honour Awards.
