Need help choosing a new ball
« on: November 09, 2005, 09:36:02 AM »
Been out of the game for about 6 years and now I'm back. I need suggestions on a new ball. I don't throw alot of ball and I'm looking for something that will hook well in the oil and the league I'm in keeps the lanes slick. Thinking about the Action from Columbia and also the XXXcel,, maybe also the Big Bully any comments or help will be appreciated.

The XXXcel is a great ball, also think about the XXcel, Hawg, Hawg Wild, Trifectaand GP2 all good for the conditions you stated.

GP2
Delta 1

wait for Machine

I'll second the Visionary Frankie May Gryphon, it's supposed to be the most versatile ball on the market right now, and OOB i think its 400 surface, which should handle heavier sided ths shots.

As for Dynothane look at High Energy, Pure Energy, AU79, and the CM.  The CM is Asymetrical, the rest are Symetrical.  If you really want Columbia, try the Overtime.

Welcome back ONEVOLFAN!
If your looking for a heavy oil ball the XXXL from Ebonite is the best choice of the three you mentioned. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
It's one of the best heavy oil balls on the market today.
Good luck and high scoring!

The Overtime is definately an Ebonite ball.

It's the XXXcel, the XXXL is a Lane #1 ball.

I'd say to get The One. It truly is a great ball, but if it's out of your price range, the Overtime is indeed a good ball. From what I've heard, though the Overtime is a mid-price line, it outhooks The One.

"OVF",
If you have a pro shop at your lanes and they are "worth their salt" and trustworthy, I would consult with them first. If you still have a ball of your own, have them watch you and your style ... most shops can fairly evaluate and make recommendations based upon what they see.
Also, does your center have a certified coach ??? If so, check with him/her first for a fair evaulation too.
My 2 cents ... good luck !!!

The action would be a good ball to start with and if u didnt want to go high end then u could go with a power drive sanded. If u have any questions please just mail me.
