Title: Drilling questions
Post by: klondike_x5 on July 08, 2003, 11:43:19 PM
Ok could someone explained the drilling position i have read on this site?
I've own two balls and I'm about to purchase another but I want it drilled for me and not the way the guy wants to drill the ball
I've read several positions on this site, but I have no idea how mine are drilled. The last guy i told i wanted something different said there is no real difference in the placement, but how I throw the ball? I think this weird.
A little help over here.

A profile would be helpful.
Also - a description of the layout of your current equipment, what the ball does now, and what you want something new to do.
Ball layout COMBINED with your release define what the ball is going to do. However, release is more dominant than layout.

Bowling? Of course it's a sport.

I would consider myself a power bowler, with lots of power and high revs.
My current ball is the reaper. I think I've adjusted my game to this ball by slowing and reducing my revs, but I don't feel/look comfortable (compared to others I watch bowl, mostly 200 bowlers)My house lanes are med-heavy oil
I want my next ball to handle high revs and speed and still have the power at the end.
Note: I'm considering the Hammer Diesel
After some researh I found that this is how my latest ball was drilled.
I hope this is what you were looking for.
Pin 3 - 3/8" from PAP
Maximum Flare Potential
Earliest Break Point
Medium to Heavy Oil Patterns

If you're a high rev guy, I'd stay away from the max leverage type drillings.  Too instable and likes to burn up early.  I'd put the pin at 4.5-5" from your PAP (over the line from ring finger to PAP).  If you want the ball to get into a roll earlier (midlane), kick the CG right (will need a weighthole to make the static weights legal).  If you want more length and snap, put the CG near the middle of your grip.
