Limited practice games
« on: May 25, 2003, 08:37:39 AM »
With limited bowling budget, the number of games I could practice suffers.  Say I could only practice 8 games in a week, how would I "budget" them? Do I play all the games in one day? or play 4 games on wednesday and another 4 on sunday?  What do you guys suggest?

Thanks!!

I am probably wrong on this but I think that practise is as much mental as physical so bowling all eight games on the same day would be difficult to stay mentally fresh.  Might be good to do once in awhile but if you get tired mentally or physically, you would only be developing bad habits, not good ones.

If you have access to a video cam, have someone record your approach, release, etc.  If you have a tripod, you could do it yourself.  Then watch yourself and be very critical.  You may be surprised at what you are actually doing, not what you think you feel you are doing.  Will give you some areas to work on in your practise sessions.

If you can find a coach, either in the proshop or one who works with the youth leagues, have them work with you even if it cuts into your budget and only allows you to bowl 4 games.  That will be money well spent.

I am sure you will get more good ideas from others or someone will correct something that I wrote.    Good luck.

Also, to get the most out of your practice dollar, throw your first ball at a troublesome spare (10 or 7 pin for most), then throw your strike ball at the "spare".  You're not keeping score anyway, so you might as well get 2 balls every frame.
