New bowler needs arsenal
« on: February 09, 2004, 11:37:40 PM »
Hey
I'm new to 10 pin bowling (only bowled for fun before) but I have been bowling 5 pin for 13 years(i live in Canada) but now i want to try 10 pin. I'm looking for a good arsenal can be from different companies. I need a ball for medium to high oil synthetic lanes, then another ball for medium oil natural wood lanes. I'm also in need of a spare ball.
If you can give suggestions or post what you have for sale(must have pictures) if you have pictures to send send them to bg_racing@hotmail.com

You should probably try and give some more info about yourself so that people can give you better suggestions. Eg: Rev Rate, ball speed, etc. (if possible).

As a fellow canuck, I welcome you to the site. It is and always will be a valuable source of info, so visit it often!

I bowl a medium to fast ball speed and a mid rev rate.

Get started as cheaply as possible and go from there.  Take a lesson, get a medium range ball like the Silver Streak or a Pulse or anything and go from there to learn the game.  Rev rate ball speed are WAY beyond your concerns now.  You are a newbie and need to walk b4 you can run.

Ok since your a new bowler you shouldn't get anything to agressive for you because you might not be able to control it, so my suggestions for the 2 balls would be this ..... for medium to light oil a storm hot rod or an ebonite 2 piece low flare stinger . Now for heavy to medium oil I would go with any storm from the x-factor line . Fear factor,X-factor, X-factor deuce, XXX-factor,X-factor re loaded. If you don't like storm track has a few balls that would be good for you like the Freak,Freak out,Mutant,Phenom, and the Phenom unleashed.

Brunswick makes some of the best hitting longest lasting equipment on the market today. You can't go wrong with Big B. Considering the highest priced and most aggressive bowling balls on the planet,(lane 1) Uses Brunswick coverstocks, they can't be that bad, huh?

What brunswick balls would you suggest and also what other storm or ebonite balls since those are the easiest for me to get

For Brunswick Equipment: Get a Inferno for Med/Med Heavy and a Power Groove Reactive for Dry/Med.

I just recently got back into competitve bowling last summer, and I couldn't agree more with getting some Brunswick equipment.. My arsenal at the moment is Monster Smash/r for med to heavy oil, Monster red/black pearl for med to dry and a plastic WWF "The Rock" ball as my spare ball.. I am by no means a great bowler, but I got this stuff at pretty good prices, and they are really helping me develop my game.. I pretty much started over again, as I used to be a "stroker" and have since learned the "crank"..
