Should I worry?

So I ran into my proshop/driller tonight before league. I let him know I got my Toxic today and would like to bring it tomorrow to have it drilled. I asked, do you know how to find my pap, he said yes. He also added that he doesn't need instructions on how to drill the ball. Is this normal? I know hammer has instructions for every ball they make. I'm going for a meium layout, should I worry that this guy actually knows what he is doing?

If you tell him what you want out of the ball, he might not need to look at any diagrams.

Basically, no skilled driller needs instructions - at least on a simple symmetrical ball like the Toxic. Strong asymmetrical pieces often need special care, and if you show up with an exotic piece it is always helpful to have some description or drilling instructions at hand.

Nevertheless, do not worry, but discuss what you want to achieve with the ball and its layout for your game. In the worst case you might end up with a label drill - fits everyone, the driller even does not need your PAP for it, but it is nothing more than a generic layout. A "proper" setup will take your PAP, style, speed and revs into account and make a big difference.

Just to be sure, discuss and have the driller explain what he does. You are the client, anyway, and there's always something to be learnt - either about ball setup, or the driller...

Dizzy is right Just about all of the mid level balls are about the same some minor differnces but for the most part they can all be drilled the same way.

After more research I'm finding my pro-shop guy doesn't have a good rep. So I'm calling other pro-shops and getting input as to what they do and how they handle what drilling I want.

normally when u dont have a define roll, just go with the description u want and that will be it

the only thing that would matter is are u full roller?

one thing to know is that, if u r high tracker, try to have the pin above

Monkeys can lay out symmetric balls, there really isn't anything on the drill sheets that should make a difference.  Or he's drilled 50 Toxics and has already read the sheet.

You do need a skilled, knowledgeable driller for the new strong asymmetrics.  You can't just ignore the MB as some drillers are wont to do with asyms.  Older ones with weaker MB ratings (less than 0.010 and spin times longer than about 12sec), there's less influence from the MB placement and you can get away with a less-skilled driller.  It's not a great idea but he's less likely to totally ruin it.  The new asyms with 0.020 and higher MB-diffs and <6sec spin times are much more sensitive.
