Reducing ball speed
« on: December 30, 2003, 03:37:36 AM »
I have a tendency to accelerate my hand/arm at the bottom of my swing just prior to my release.  On oily conditions, this causes my ball to not precess well down the lane (it overskids and under-reacts at the end of the pattern).
Should I attempt to alter my ball speed with a softer follow-through to counteract my tendency to accelerate the ball or should I try to take advantage of this tendency by moving further back on the approach and moving my target closer to the foul line?

the first thing you need to do is let the ball go down on its own momentum. Powering through the release will cause you to mess up your release point, and aim. Gravity will pull the ball down at the perfect speed, just let you arm relax and concentrate on the release point. Once you get that down you can pick where to move.
