ball speed question
« on: December 20, 2003, 05:13:19 PM »
I am having a problem with ball speed. I am a 185 average. The lanes I bowl on measure ball speed, even though I question the accuracy. Anyway my strike ball usually registers between 13.9 and 14.8 but my one pin spare ball is consistently between 20.2 and 21 mph. I want to get my first ball to at least 16 mph. Is this a common problem. My pro shop guru says I am trying to be too carefull to make sure I catch the first ball on the bottom of the swing. Does anyone haw any drills or ideas on how to get my first ball faster. I am thinking if my spareball is fast enought than I shouldn't try the usual.....

You should try to speed up your approach a little, or add steps to your approach.

Try holding the ball higher up when you start, or bringing it higher up on your backswing.

Work out and build up some mighty muscles so you power through the ball like the almighty sawmill does.

You can always hit em hard when you've got the balls
