Title: Some success
Post by: HWooldridge on July 04, 2012, 08:40:37 AM
I've been reading this forum daily and watching vids and had posted a question a couple weeks ago asking for advice after a long time layoff - so last night while our league team was practicing, I was able to shoot a 243.  Seven strikes and everything else was a spare - my highest score in well over 30 years.  This was the fifth game of the night, my other scores were 183, 190, 189 and 154.

In general, I seem to be settling in around 190 so my goal now is to pick up all my spares and work on consistency.  BTW, I really like my Columbia Freeze; it's very controllable if I do my part and hit the mark. The oil was decent last night so I may look at another strike ball for lighter oil when that situation crops up.

Many thanks for the responses to my earlier post - I appreciate the help.

Congrats!  Anytime you start to see "the light at the end of the tunnel" it's encouraging.
Don't worry if you have a bad scoring night, and don't get too excited if you do. Just work on repeating shots (good mechanics) and usually the scores will take care of themselves over time.

Congratulations on your nice game.  Spares are important, so that is a good goal to work towards.
