what should i do
« on: July 05, 2004, 07:47:13 AM »
today me and my friend went bowling and i got
a lane right next to this guy i have seen him many times he bowls
10-20 games a day every day, well he starts talking
to me and he says that im pretty good but he says
that my release is not good i hook the ball using
my rist not my finger like i should, lots of my bowling
friends that are older have told me this and the pro shop
owner that im buddies with has told me this, they said that
i am not quit strong enough to snap my fingers, anyways this
guy gives me this list of books that i should pick one and read,
i thought it was strange that he had a printed list of the books.
my question is do i really need to read these books or would
i be better just getting stronger, i don't need lessions because
i already know what im doing wrong, and peaple have already gave me
lessons.

do i need to change my whole style, even know i would probably do
horrible and i don't even think my bowling style is that bad i mean
i don't even throw a massive hook and i put all fingers in the ball ?

im 14 and i have around 175 avg and please help

I have a thing called a "Dyna-Flex", its a gyro-scope. Best tool to help improve forearm, and wrist strength. I use it pretty much every day. It will really help build up muscles that you need.

Wow, sure wish I knew everything there was about bowling.  I'm 60 and still take lessons!

Sounds to me like he was trying to be helpful, probably recognized your potential is why he offered the list of books and pointed out a few flaws in your release.

This is one of the reasons I don't offer help to anyone unless they ask for it.  Seems like when I do I run into someone who already knows everything.

sorry that i have not look at this post in along time but i have been taking lessons from him for the past few weeks and he has me holding the ball more to the side more so i get more lift or something like that instead of on the bottom like i have been doing and it seems to get in a roll better then before and made me a little more consistent, i should read the one of the books he told me to get but i have not gotten to that yet though, why i did not want his help really from the start because he was to technical for me and i thought i would have to change every thing and i feared i would do horrible for along time but really it was just my release.

Im not saying my bowling is perfect I just said I did not want lessons from him it was nice of him though.  I have a traveling league coach but not this time of the year that I see 2 or more times a week during bowling season and he has been teaching kids for along time so hes not to technical, but this guy was and I thought everything I did was wrong the way he talked but in the end he really did help me

me and my friend even go to a learn to bowl clinic like 3 times a year to get some tips and talk to Mark Mc dowel i think his name is runs it and we are like the only ones over the age of 12
