Title: Timing
Post by: drvred on December 20, 2009, 11:35:45 AM
I have been having terrible pain in my left knee. I know it is because I dont slide.
So I changed the soles on my shoes to where I can slide. Now I miss my mark 5 to 7 boards right consistently.
What do I change to get my timing back?

 Thanks

Check Ron Clifton's article archive.  http://www.bowl4fun.com/ron/roncarchive.htm

Lots of good info.

Particularly this one.  http://www.bowl4fun.com/ron/tip21.htm

Just changing soles will not help. You probably catch all your body's momentum with a planted slide foot, and my guess is that you have fast feet (You have to wait for the ball at the foul line) and move a lot with your upper body (bent forward).

My rough advise: slow down your feet and let the pendulum dictate your stance. Ideally, you should synch your second-to-last step with the pendulum's forward motion, so that the slide adds its momentum to the ball. This will create both speed and help with release leverage.

But that's just a very rough diagnosis.
