I try to use the same ball but move closer to the gutter, for a straight shot down-and-in. I try to get along with release adjustments from there (breaking back the wrist, adding side rotation for a longer sliding phase). Moving deep will hardly work well, if you have a dirty back end. Ball will probably lack recovery, and for really strong stuff the lanes tends to be too dry at that time, from my experience.
Switching to a milder ball will help, too - my Pure Hammer (5x5 above fingers, surface at 1.500 wet sanded) is a very good option for me in this situation.

That's a tough condition.  Watch the higher average bowlers and see how they're attacking it.  You could try moving left and see if there's more head oil there.  --  JohnP

Will lofting the ball work?

Yes, it is an option, even though you sacrifice control. A spinning ball in the air simply lacks contact, and if you loft upwards chances are high that the ball bounces once it lands, with uncertain reaction results.
But it is a valid option, esp. when you have to grind out a game for some frames and do not want to switch the ball or dare other experiments.

I'll use the same ball I was using previously and move right, playing a tighter line.  If need be I'll go to a more aggressive ball.
