Teammate and I need help! (videos)
« on: May 23, 2008, 04:47:13 PM »
Okay, well, as the title says my teammate and I are in need of some advice.  We both received some coaching, but there's still a bit more work to do.  These videos were taken the day of coaching.

I'm in the first video.  The things I already know I need to fix are my finish, in that I need to keep a consistent spine angle (not jerk up) as well as try to get lower.  Oh, and not whip the ball so hard, and yet so uselessly.  But, the thing I've been having trouble with is my release.  After a lay-off, I've come back with a ball roll I hate, a spinning forward roll shot.  It's fine for house shots, but all I'm bowling is a PBA league and it's less than stellar for those patterns.  I have video from last year when I threw a ball with a lot less tilt for reference, because I'm not sure what to do to correct this.  There's a slow motion clip at the end of the video by the way.

The second is my teammate Jake.  Again, he's fine for house shots, but on patterns like shark he has to really slow down to get the ball to actually roll up, so much that it's very difficult to repeat.  So we're hoping he can get some tips to just generate enough revs so that he doesn't have to just point it at the pocket.  Again, there's a slow-motion clip at the end.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry for the length of the post.

Okay, I uploaded them to youtube, they're currently processing.  I just didn't want to do so, because youtube reduces the quality of the video.

i would suggest to ur friend first to stop turning his hand around the ball. and some accuracy practice is good. from the video, it was pretty much the same if he threw it thru 7 or 13

i became a better bowler after gettin our of the wet inside dry outside cake house shot. i would suggest practicing on a shorter flatter house pattern, where theres still room but way harder than whats on the video
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Thanks for the replies, I'll pass the info on.  Any other comments, such as any advice about my release?

You top the ball in most of your shots making the ball "spin" not roll. Your friend needs alot of foot work help and if he wants to "hook" the ball he needs to keep his hand behind the ball and roll it off his hand.He looks like he's just trying to place it on the lane. hope that helps.
