Quick vid of my old approach and my new approach
« on: December 11, 2010, 02:17:57 PM »
Took a small vid comparing my old approach and new approach the other day before work. My old approach is the first shot and my new approach is my second shot. Only noticable difference is the backswing. I have made a slight change with my footwork since I recorded this by stepping slightly faster. Any advice/criticism would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I don't really see much of a difference in terms of the size or cadence of the steps. The key difference seems to be that in the first sequence you start the ball well into and near the end of your third step, and the ball is really late making you not very stable at the line.

The second approach is also a five step approach, but you correctly start the ball closer to with your second step which is why you seemed to have better rotation and balance at the line. Keep practicing the second approach and make it natural to start the ball with your second step.

Thanks. I usually always start my pushoff on my second step. I wonder why I wasn't here. Odd, lol.

This is what I seen
1) A lower pushaway about 4 inches.
2) A much lower back swing around 1 1/2 feet.
3) You didn''t pull down from the top of the backswing because of number 2.
4) Your timing was much better because of number 2.
5) Your slide foot didn''t turn sideways because of the better timing.
MUCH BETTER IN THE NEW STYLE.

You do push the ball away on your 2nd step. It seems late because you push straight out.A side view would help next time you take a video.

  Now work on your pushaway.

Listen to what Duke says at 27 second and 53 seconds.

Keep up the good work.
