Title: Can someone with some time help
Post by: bighook69 on August 02, 2009, 11:51:27 AM
Hey, can someone out there who has a second do me a favor, can you try and calculate the rpm's of my shot? I know it will probably be hard to tell just from this video so if you do have a few and can help me I can send you the original video (probably would be easiest to just throw that into some video editing program and slow it all down... sadly I dont have one), just send me a pm with your email and I will send it to you... otherwise here is the youtube vid. Oh and sorry about the pink ball, its the only plastic I have, lol.

I would say around 325 to 360. Just in that range.
--------------------
High Game = 299
High Series = 776
Revs/Speed = 200rpm at 15-17 mph

Here is what I got:

Put video in Movie maker, slowed down x4, and then made the video black and white, so I could make out the tape better. Then the math -
Ball rotates 19.5 times from point of release to point of impact with pins.
Ball hits pins after 2.35 seconds
So if it revolves 19.5 times in 2.35 seconds then - 60 seconds / 2.35 seconds = 25.53 then multiply that by the number of revolutions in the original 2.35 seconds, 25.53 x 19.5 = 497.8 Revolutions per Minute.

definitely not 497 RPM.  I would say about 375.  But if you want to be sure...go here:

http://www.bowlspot.com/page/rpms

that's a good site and the tool on there should help you calculate for sure

I slowed it down so you can see it better, i know my math is correct

I really dont care the exact number, and I dont think its all that important, but I know my math is right, lol

I used the RPM tool there, and with a bunch of frame by frame crap got to just under 2 frames between revolution (right off my hand), camera at 15FPS... which came to 450rpms at straight 2, and with it being just under 2 I dont see how the 480 area is impossible.
