bowling video tonight, suggestions please
« on: December 18, 2013, 10:27:04 PM »
Folks, I've been bowling for several years and I've been stuck at a 200 average for several years now.  I took this video tonight and was hoping for some constructive criticism.  Note that this is my "come around the ball release".  I can also stay straight up the back of the ball as well when the situation comes up.  The house I bowl in plays very tight.  They use the Kegel main street pattern.  Thanks in advance.  In this particular video, I'm using a Radical Torrid Elite with the pin down below the fingers.

you say the lanes are tight, do you mean that the volume sticks around or that the backend is tight with not much movement?

My house uses Main Street as well, usually middle/end of 2nd game the mids have really started to go and I have to ball down and move right in the men's league and then in my mixed league I usually have to stay with a stronger ball and move right because of some carrydown.

From that short clip, I think I'd suggest trying to stay behind the ball a little more and not having so much loft. That could help lead you to a more consistent roll and carry

you need to losen up your swing , also if u look u have a slight foward motion of your upper body,  like a lunge  where u kinda RARE up at the line. try and get with a coach to help you with this

slow your feet down.  try to walk in a cadence instead of slow - fast-fast plant

I would recommend finding a certified coach to work with you one on one.  http://bowl.com/findacoach/  Listening to too many people analyze one shot (at a bad camera angle) may cause more harm than good.

Folks,

Thanks for the tips.

When I say they play tight, I mean there's not as much movement and a definite out of bounds to the right.  I play right too far and the ball burns up before it gets to the pocket, and I move left and its difficult to get enough angle to carry the corners.

I definitely agree with trying to stay behind the ball more.  As far as loft, I think it's a by-product of the fact my knees give me some trouble and it's hard to get down to close enough to set the ball down.  Any tips on that?

Timing is something I've worked on the last year.  All in all my arm swing stays pretty loose, but I definitely have times where I'm fighting that demon too.

I really do need to look into finding a good coach.  I've got to look to see if there's a good one in the Cleveland area.  If anyone knows of any offhand, I'd appreciate the advice.

Again, thanks all.  I'm really happy with the community here.  You're all great!

It looks like Jeri Edwards does lessons at Stonehedge in Akron.  Probably not going to find any better than her.

Awesome!  Thank you.  I'll look into that.
