not to be overly critical as it looks like you were practicing, but do you need to walk out every shot? other than that you throw it strong

I think that your ball speed is pretty slow for a two-hander, probably caused by your early timing. If you lowered the height of your pushaway and got the ball into the swing sooner, you should arrive at the foul-line just before the ball instead of way before it, which will up the speed a little.

While there are a couple of bowlers out there that have had success with the two handed release, I do not advise you continue on this path. I speak from experience. I used to bowl with no thumb in the ball. Just the two fingers and that was it. I also used to hook wine U dots as much as you are hooking whatever resin ball your throwing. This was back in the early to mid 90's. I was VERY good at the no thumb release and won many tournaments. While the two handed delivery eliminates one problem associated with the no thumb delivery, which is excessive strain on the wrist, it does not eliminate the other problem. In fact it may be even worse. That problem is a tremendous amount of strain on your sliding knee. It appears you are on the younger side in the video. While what your doing may be fun now, it will become painful down the road. Also, if you have any plans to compete on a competitive level, you will be very limited in what types of lane conditions you might have a chance at winning. My advice to you is, learn how to throw the ball with your thumb in it and learn to play all parts of the lane. It took me many years to switch back over to throwing with my thumb in the ball. With todays equipment you do not need to generate the revs and power you do with the two-handed release. The balls are more than powerful enough to do that for you today.

I usually try not to be aggressive, but shut up.  This is a new era.  I don't bowl like this, but maybe I wish I did...who cares.

If his knee starts to hurt he will stop.  Us youngins aren't stupid.  Don't preach.

He asked for feedback and I gave it. If he does not want to listen, thats his decision. I don't need you preaching to me about what is a new era. When I used to bowl with no thumb in the ball, it was a new era. Mike Miller even brought this release to the PBA. By the way, I had him comment one day as I bowled next to him in a PBA event. He was impressed. As for the new era, there were many local bowlers that decided to try this release because I was having alot of success with it. NO ONE is doing it anymore. Many of those that tried, stopped because they experienced knee problems. I know because they told me themselves. I have been around for alot of the "new eras", like the first two piece urethane balls, drilling patterns that make a ball flare and of course the hook in the box resin balls of today. The only thing thats been consistant, has been change. Two handed bowlers will not be around in 10 years because they are limited to what lane conditions they can play and some new era will make them obsolete.

Even if he did start putting his thumb in it, that doesn't mean he wouldn't have knee problems.
