Title: Muscled Arm Swing
Post by: spete44 on February 14, 2007, 03:34:13 AM
I am a contractor, have worked out in the gym for a long time, 170 lbs, 46 years old and have taken my game to a new level. I've been told that i have a lot more potential than I've shown. I average 211, 206, 203 in regular leagues and carry slightly higher as a sub. I have bowled in North East Iowa tournaments since the start of the season (06-07). It has helped me diversify my game immensely. I bowl Tuesday night at a small 16 lane house where a friend of mine runs the pro shop. I shot a 631 last night but a higher potential could have been achieved. I was talking to this friend about my struggles when the shot in this house becomes erratic and have to do some quick thinking on changes with the lane and approach. He mentioned to me that I have a strong tendency to muscle the ball, even when I'm bowling well(spares missed average about 45 pins a game)I don't feel that I am but don't see myself doing this. He told me about a guy in the Chicago area who is bigger and more ripped than I am that struggled with this and has overcome the tendency to muscle the ball and isn't jerky but has a very fluid arm swing. I'm always open for suggestions but don't always ask. He told me about this site, so here I am! Any impute is greatly appreciated.

Where In Iowa are you? Free/fluid arm swing is a big help. I used to muscle the ball quite a bit. Untill a freind of mine helped me out. I think you would be surprised at the difference.
