Robert Smith - swing and release in slow motion
« on: January 18, 2010, 12:51:48 PM »
These video clips were taken during a bowling clinic session by Robert Smith at Hong Kong Bowling City in Oct 2009. This is an original video never published before. Enjoy!

Interesting. I noticed he has the wrist cupped all the way past the heel and doesn't up-cup until the hand passes the toe. Is that how its normally done, or only he can do this?

From what he told me he actually felt like he uncupped and released the ball before (or right when) his hand reached the sliding foot. But usually what you feel is different from what is really happening.

Yeah normally you would try and start to un cup when you feel your hand reaching around your heel area
the delay that takes place naturally from what you feel and what is taking place means that you really dont start to un cup till you are around your toe area (this all happens in a fraction of a second)
take a look at this vid of Wes and see how late his wrist motion is

Kinda makes you wonder if he had been using "this" form instead of his other style, if the injuries would have happend...

I do think this form is alot better and he still revs the crap outa the ball..

I do believe his injuries were eventually traced to fibromyalgia... not really something his style can be blamed for.

That's sick! (in a good way).
Did he go away from the Sarge Easter grip?

He would be hitting up on it.  Not sure of the results would be but it's probably not a reaction he would want.

He told me he was a "free agent" this year. He was only wearing the Roto jersey for that particular trip to Hong Kong only.
