He's about 6'1" or so, actually he's averaging in the mid 180's in his Sat/league and also in JBT's.. BUT, he has some bad habits that show up to often.. and most of them are in that clip..

After watching the full video of him, he now sees the things that he is doing wrong that I've been trying to point out to him, and we now we'll begin to work on them..

I too think he is bent over WAY to much at the beginning of his approach, and has a problem with muscleing the ball, not sure if that clip shows it, but his head also jerks up a ton..And getting some more knee bend too.. again, things we will now start to work on..

Any tips would be nice to go about some of these changes would be awsome..  thanks

Thanks for checking it out..

wow hes very tall for his age, i bet u should be a big guy as well...

anyway, back to bowling

i like his release, he's very smooth except on his last step. I think crochin that much might not be necessary cuz he would suffer pain later on when since he's still growing, but theres no pain or anything, it shouldnt matter. The part i think that should be corrected is the head level going up before the swing. By that i mean, it might create inconsistency if the head moves up and then swing. You can tell him to watch WRW, his head moves up with his swing, but its almost at the same time of the release and not before.

if he is inconsistent hitting the mark he wants, u should maybe ask him to try little bit more push away towards the mark, this might be useful since his arm swing is pretty straight.

other than that, he is very good and have lots of potential

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one

This guy on youtube posts videos of the PBA
for ppl who dont watch TV or want to save the matches this will be great!

You sure your kid is only 12? LOL. Anyway, from what I can see he seems to be too stiff. Tell him to try and bend at the knees instead of at the waist. Also, tell him to keep his head still until after the release.

Yeah, I was about his size when I was 12, about 6' and 160 lbs. I am now 6'7 and 215 at the age of 15.

But yes, his knees tend to bend a little to early. Tell him to keep his back straight through the shot and be loose.

Something I also noticed in this video you really need to get him to do is, keep his head level all the way through the approach. That is so key for good balance and proper release. As you can see he stands up tall, then dips down and just as he releases the ball he pops up. That popping up forces you to hit up on the ball and usually creates inconsistance release/shot making.

Just my 2 cents
