Critiques Wanted: K-Dawg77's Strikes from Reno
« on: June 03, 2007, 11:34:46 PM »
I received my video DVD from Reno and threw together the majority of my stirke shots. There weren't too many from Singlss (shot 567). Doubles had a few more (shot 609). This was my first Movie Maker attempt so the editing is crappy and there are no graphics; just video and sound. I also shot my first 600 so I had my little dorky celebration more from relief than anything else.

Balls used: SR300 drilled pin in ring finger approx. 5" from PAP; MB near thumb
Black Widow 5" pin above finger; MB @ 45 degrees.
Both Out of Box 4000 grit surfaces
SR300 exclusively in Doubles and both in Singles.

Feel free to critique me. I think my form is pretty good. The errant shots you don't see were from not extending my swing and not getting my balance arm out better. The kneebend is decent; slide is getting better.

P.S. I'm the chunky dude in the dark blue shirt and white lettering.

Without futher ado.... Enjoy!

Very nice.  Very smooth and steady, I wish I could throw it like that.

Nice videos, and a good perspective!
To me, your approach and release looks pretty steady. You are quick, but in time and consitent, and this is what IMO counts. You have very good leverage at the release point, powerful but with an effortless swing. Looks very good to me.

3 things I see to hint at, which are not serious but worth notification:

a) You drop your shoulder a lot, but throughout the whole approach. I guess with you speed and swing, this is a necessity, and it does not seem to be a detriment at all. It is just a style observation.

b) I have the impression that you drift to the right on the approach? But, again, this does not seem to be a real issue, it might even stem from/be compensated by your lowered shoulder at the release point at the foul line.

c)You "snap" your upper body downward upon relase to generate some extra punch at the release point - this again moves your upper body leftward, towards your dropped shoulder and forward. Again, this does not seem to hamper you, but could be a potential source for inconsitency (I do similar things when I get a bit sluggish or "want" too much, and the lack of physical control can sometimes cause ball spray)?

But overall: very steady, and smooth. Cool style

By the way: do you frequently convert spares with your other hand? That's weird
