The Rising vid
« on: November 24, 2007, 11:14:52 AM »

Just a little vid of me throwing my first shots with The Rising about a week ago.. I had just got it off the press when i shot this..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjT2BPIVDRw

A little info..

House..:

World Cup Hallen, Rødovre, Denmark..

System 300 Lanes and Approaches..
The lanes have a tendency to roll early as a result of the first panels have a slight incline..

"Our" House Pattern.. 38 ft, 21 mL, Crown Shape.. Highscoring pattern.. Highest scores are usually shot down and in, around the track area..

Oilmachine..:
Kegel Kustodian Ion
Conditioner - Brunswick Absolute Control.. Cleaner - Brunswick Invincible

Layout..: The reason for the layout not being the recommended layout, came from seeing 2 guys with less revs than myself throwing theirs, and theirs looked like really heavy-rolling balls, so i was pretty sure the recommended layout would roll too early for me for what i had in mind, which is med/heavy volumes and longer patterns..

Shot by shot info..:

This was shot after 3 hours of Open Play.. So i'm throwing a bit faster than normal, also because this ball just wants to hook..

1. Was a bit firm with the speed..
2. Bad footwork = Pulled shot..
3. Moved 2 boards left with feet.. Too much angle..
4. Made a 5 board parallel move to the right from my initial startingpoint..
5. Same spot..
6. Same spot..
7. Made a 15 board move to the right with my feet and a 10 board move on the lane.. Went more up the back on the ball.. Got the ball too early to the outside friction..
8. Made a 1 board parallel move to the left.. Bad shot, but still too much friction too early..
9. Moved another 1 board parallel move to the left.. Much better reaction..
10. Pic of me on my very first time to a Quiznos, at Texas Station, Las Vegas this past summer..

Music..: Theme from Taxi..

First thoughts..:

This ball is definitely for oil.. Keep this bad boy inside the oilline and you'll have a monster.. This ball does something none of my other balls do.. It starts revving up, NOT PICKING UP, really nice in midlane as it just waits to reach the end of the pattern where it starts reading the friction, shifts gear and just rockets towards to pocket.. And still with a lot of control.. Due to the lack of oil this day, i later on started leaving stone 8 and 9 pins.. It rolls that strong..
I look forward to putting down a longer pattern and a heavier pattern to see what i does..

I'll do a more indepth review once i get to throw it some more..

Peace

Great video.  (For what it's worth, you're a rev monster!!)  I am surprised at how much continuation that ball seemed to have even when you let it stay in the dry -- it never seemed to straighten out and roll out.

Also, great song.  The version in the clip is a pretty dull cover version from a TV Music Themes CD -- the actual song was recorded by jazz artist Bob James, and the song's actual title is "Angela".  (Shameless self promotion alert... sorry for the minor thread hijack, SKC!) I've got a Fender Rhodes electric piano like the one Bob James used on the original recording, and I have a short video of me playing that song if anyone's interested.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odafbnR4E6Q
