This ball is going to be a benchmark ball for many bowlers.  If you liked the original Brute you are going to love the brute strength.  its cleaner and stronger than the original.  I have used it on your THS shot and used it on Kegels Turnpike pattern.  This ball allowed me to open my angles up more than any other ball in my bag from the beginning.  I hit it with 4000 surface and was able to blend out the pattern and ended up leading the event.  This ball is just simply amazing.  You'll see a strong mid lane roll with alot of pin action.  It is going to be a must in your bag.

Wow do I like my first impression of this ball.  Early indications are that this might replace the Mele Jab as the favorite ball in my bag and first one out.  I drilled the Brute Strength with the same layout I start with on most symmetrical balls which is 65X5X70.  This puts the pin under my middle finger and the CG down and to the right of my thumb hole.  I put the hole at P3.  With the surface out of the box I have this ball 4 boards stronger than I have my Melee Jab with the same layout.  I do have 3000 Siar pad on the Jab.  The thing I like about the strength is I get the same length out of it as my Jab with the duller surface, but I see 4 boards more hook from the breakpoint to the pins.  This will be a great bench mark ball for most bowlers, as what I have seen so far, it gives me a great read on what the lanes are doing.

COMMENTS

The Brute Strength is a compliment to the Brute.  The Brute Strength is clean through the fronts and pick up more midlane roll and has a more angular backend than the Brute.  I drilled mine to roll a little bit more than my Soul, due to the Soul being about 3-4 weaker than the Brute Strength, I wanted to make it a 1-2 punch combo in my arsenal.  The Brute Strength is a great mid performance that is great in any arsenal.

The Brute Strength is the kind of ball that I instantly trusted and I've found I am using it quite often on a variety of patterns and situations. It is very quickly becoming my "go to" ball and will likely also fill the role of benchmark ball in my tournament bag. It's roll is on the heavier side but, clears the heads easily. The Brute Strength reads the mid-lane well with a hard arc to the pocket. It is a very controllable ball which is what I needed at the Open this year. I used it during the Singles event and it helped me control the break point very well. The first game out of the box was a 279, on our local house shot. All the ball did was strike no matter where I put it. I have mine setup with a 4.5 pin/PAP with the CG swung and a neutral X-hole. This ball is an absolute homerun from Brunswick!

The Brute Strength combines a proven symmetrical core with a stronger coverstock than the original.  This Brute reads several feet sooner on the lane and is more suited to use on the fresher conditions when being compared to the original.  This ball hooks about 5 boards more than the original and is very difficult to throw past the breakpoint.  This will be a great benchmark ball for slower speeds and will also be very useful on heavier conditions once they start to breakdown.  It performed admirably on our 41 foot house condition.  I was able to get several boards right of where I use my usual Melee Jab and have plenty of striking power.  I found it to have a smooth reaction with very surefooted recovery.  If your looking for a benchmark ball fore use on a variety of medium lane conditions the Brute Strength is the ticket.

Likes:  To replace the original Brute I added a small dose of polish so I could play straight up the outside.  This ball finishes strong once it finds any friction, and gives me just enough angle to inspire confidence.  Very nice step down from the heavier oil coverstocks.  Carry is excellent.  Outstanding value.

Dislikes: Factory surface was a tad too dull for the spot I wanted to use in my arsenal, but now it's all I could hope for.

This is NO DOUBT the benchmark ball you have been looking for to put in your bag.  This is what you have been missing.  The ball is strong, has a smooth arch, and is very continuous in the back part of the lane.  Responds to friction well but does not give you that erratic jerk that you too often see from new age equipment.  This will be the first ball out of my bag at tournaments to come so I can get a good read of the pattern.  Don't make the mistake of missing out on this one.  Go to your pro shop today and drill one!

The Brute Strength is a fantastic compliment to the original Brute. The ball has the very strong backend motion of the original with much more traction in oil for slicker lane conditions. This ball is extremely versatile. You can play straighter with it keeping your hand behind the ball or you can easily move in with more rotation and the ball has plenty of punch to knock the corners out. If you liked the Brute you will enjoy stepping up to the Brute Strength. Get to your local proshop and start overpowering the competition today!

Current League Average: 237
Sanctioned Sport Average: 210

Intended Use:
I drilled up this Brute using a smoother layout with a strong pin position with the intent of having a med-strong ball that would be a good step up from my original Brute and a step down from strong asymmetric balls like the Guru or Mastermind.

Reaction:
Impressive. The Brute Strength is a good 5-6 boards stronger than the original Brute. The motion is smoother, but still has a good "pop" off the breakpoint downlane. The cover handles oil well. I have used it so far on long patterns like Paris and Shark, as well as a variety of medium conditions. It is too strong and too much hook downlane to use on short patterns for me.

Overall:
I am a BIG fan of this ball. Very good as a "ball two" on longer conditions during the transition. VERY VERY good on house patterns for me. With the motion and strength, there is no limit to what styles will find this ball a good home in their bags.

The all new Brute Strength is a great addition to the Brunswick line up.

Inside you will find the same core as used in the original Brute. The cover is different however. The Brute Strength uses the Savvy Hybrid cover.

This core cover combo adds a lot more strength to this ball when compared to the Brute.

Mine is drilled 50x4.5x30 no hole. This gives me plenty of length with a smooth predictable shape downlane. This balls screams benchmark. One of the differences is though that my typical benchmark worked for a game or so. The Brute Strength allows me to follow the transition longer. Best part of this ball is, as soon as I see it running out of energy I can immediately change to a Melee Jab and never miss a move.

The Brute Strength is about 7 to 9 boards stronger than the original Brute and about 3 boards more than a Melee Jab. Also is 3 -4 boards less than a Mastermind Einstein.

I have now used this ball on a house shot, Atlanta and Chameleon. As you can see all these patterns are different lengths and I have used it with success on all 3.

Brute Strength

All I’m going to say is if you don’t have one of these in your bag, you are seriously behind the competition.  This may be one of the best balls Brunswick has put out in a long time.  This ball is so versatile it matches every bowlers game.  Low rev, high rev, or like me a medium rev player, it doesn’t matter; this ball will give you the results you are looking for.  With the new Savvy Hook Hybrid reactive it provides the traction in oil required for a huge variety of lane conditions.  This ball has easy length and strong mid lane response.  Check out my video on Facebook, I showcased 3 different shots, to prove its versatility as well as its amazing traction on the lane.  I cannot say enough about this bowling ball.

I drilled my first one 75 x 5 x 35.  It is incredible to watch it go through the fronts, and its very aesthetically pleasing to the eye.  Its color combination makes it look awesome as it drives through the pin deck.  This is also a benchmark ball by Brunswick, one that will definitely be in my bag for all the bowling tournaments I attend.  Feel free to email me at troy_300_1999@yahoo.com should you have any questions or would like me to email my videos on this ball.

Dislikes: not for very heavy oil.

thoughts:I have been waiting on this ball ever since the original brute came out. This is a strong ball for people who want a smooth motion, without the major early rolling cover and core that is usually associated with that motion. I have had a chance to throw it on multiple house conditions, and I have yet to see it run out of gas. I have been in front of the ball return with no problems at all. I still see nice length and a smooth move to the pocket. Im very happy that this ball met my expectations.

COMMENTS
Bowler: Lefty, high ball speed, high Rev rate

Ball Specs: Medium pin,  OOB surface, drilled 1 1/2 inches pub up over middle finger. Weight hole

The Brute Strength is quite the bowling ball. I had no doubts it was going to be good and it surpasses what I ever expected. This ball makes it way far downlane and has a significant response to the backend that just crushes the pins. On USB Blue, I played last dot to the right and swinging the whole lane. It gave me a ton of forgiveness when thrown wide and even some for pulled shots. I could just tertiary this ball to get to the pocket when I needed it the most. Also, this ball sent messengers like it was it's job

Likes: Effortless getting downlane with a skid snap reaction. Strong but not overly strong reaction.

Dislikes: It tended to be speed sensitive. Slow would grab and too fast would go past the break point. This is most likely due to the layout

I really found a great ball that filled a spot in my bag and I'm going to be living this ball around with me to tournaments for some time to come

The Brute Strength has a stronger midlane roll compared to the Brute with more snap on the backend. The Brute strength has the same core as the Brute, but uses a hybrid version of the Savvy hook pearl coverstock that was used on the Melee Jab. The Brute Strength will give your more traction in oil compared to the Brute and starts up about 2 feet sooner than the Brute with more continuation. I have used this ball on THS and sport patterns and it allows me to get more snap on the backend compared to the Brute. It is going to be a good benchmark ball in my bag with lots of versatility. This ball would fit between the Brute and the Melee Jab.

I have mine drilled pin under the ring finger, but this ball gets into an early roll regardless of layout.  It picks up well on conditions where you need traction in the midlane and retains enough energy to slap out the corners.

I find it a good ball on the fresh for most medium volume patterns, whether sport compliant or house shots.  If you  don't have a fair amount of ball speed you may not want to use this once the fronts go or the midlane push is gone, as it may burn up too soon.

But with the right matchup, this ball will strike all day.  See your pro shop professional soon and get one for the start of fall season.

The ball layout combination was great for a flatter pattern where I played very straight and still had a continuous arc into the pocket. It threw the head pin around and the carry percentage was very high and showed Brute strength!

The Brute Strength is the follow-up to the Brute in the All-Purpose line of equipment. It combines a hybrid-reactive version of the Savvy Hook coverstock, which was originally on the Melee Jab, with a low RG core. This combination creates a relatively strong mid-lane read and reaction with quite a bit of hook on the backend. I find this ball being the first one out of my bag for league since it’s a bit earlier than my Einstein. I have my favorite pin-down layout, pin under the middle finger and CG kicked just a bit. It gives me the early and smooth roll that accentuates what the hybrid coverstock can offer. I’m very impressed with how this ball is performing so far.

X-hole: ¾” wide x 2.5” deep, 1” past PAP

Review:

Out of all the balls in the Brunswick lineup I have drilled, the Brute Strength was the one I was looking forward to the most. The reason for this is because of how drastically different I thought this ball would be from the original Brute. If any of you read my review of the original Brute, you know that even with a 4 ½” pin over drilling, I found it to be a much earlier rolling ball than I anticipated. This keeps the ball on the shelf longer than I thought I would, because it’s more of a specialty ball than a ball I can use on a wide variety of conditions. That being said, it was a good piece in the overall arsenal. I was hoping for more versatility with the Brute Strength and did it ever deliver in a big way!

USBC White Oil Pattern

I bowl on this pattern in two different centers, one higher friction than the other, so I got a good amount of games on the Brute Strength for comparison to the original Brute. The Brute Strength is much, much, cleaner through the front part of the lane, and does a great job of making it’s move late but still controlled. It certainly has that heavy rolling tendency I saw from the original Brute, but about 5-6 feet further down lane, which is a monumental difference. In just this past week I shot a 710 in one bowling center with the Brute Strength, followed up by a 720 in the other center, playing completely different parts of the lane. The higher friction center I was in around 15 swinging to 6-7 and shimmied in to 18 by the end of the night. It was a very clean and aggressive look, with good pin carry. The lower friction center where the oil sits in almost puddles, I was playing 10 to 4-5 and really hitting the ball good to force it to roll up a little quicker, and that worked well all night. Like I said, not only is the Brute Strength longer than the original Brute, it has more overall hook too. I was consistently seeing 3-4 boards more overall hook out of the Brute Strength, and this ball is a MUST have in your bag for any sort of blended house shot. This is a great piece of equipment.

WTBA Los Angeles Oil Pattern

I decided to try the Brute Strength on the Los Angeles oil pattern which is 36 feet in length and medium volume. I found that at the stock surface I had trouble getting consistent pin carry even though I could get to the pocket well. The shorter nature of the pattern forced me to get the ball out further quicker, and it was losing too much energy as it made its move to the pocket. So, I took the cover up to 3000 siaair with Royal Polish finish and this made a huge difference. I found that I could play a little tighter line and get tremendous pin carry, to the tune of 235, 248, 259 after the surface change, where I was 198, 215, 219 before the change. I was pleased with how easily the ball took to cover changes, which is better than the original Brute, which was more finicky. If you’re going to use the Brute Strength on shorter patterns, do not hesitate to change the surface, you will be glad you did.

WTBA Paris Oil Pattern

This 46 ft. oil pattern was the extreme on the other side, more oil at a longer distance. Again, I took the Brute Strength back to the factory surface and did well with it, but not overwhelming as the pattern started to break down with games of 228, 229, 232. So, I decided to sand the cover to 2000 siaair to knock the shine off and get the ball to read the mid lane better and have a smoother break point. Mission accomplished on both fronts. Once again this ball amazed me with its versatility. I bowled on a fresh pair at the 2000 grit, and went games of 258, 247, 269, 228, 230. This ball shined playing in around 17 getting to 10 and motoring in the pocket consistently. I could have probably bowled another ten games on that pair and had a great look. I thought the longer pattern would be doom for the Brute Strength, but once I sanded the cover it was the best pattern of the three I tested it on. The original Brute struggled with pin carry on the longer, heavier patterns, but not so with the Brute Strength. Just grab a sanding pad and have fun!

Summary

What else can I say about the Brute Strength that hasn’t been covered in the review already? It is a great benchmark ball for house shots, and the cover is versatile enough to cover shorter patterns and longer patterns alike. If you were like me, and unsure after original Brute, do not hesitate at all. The Brute Strength will not let you down one bit, it has now become the ball I judge everything else in my bag off of because of the true nature of the roll. If you don’t have one in your bag, do so soon, as it is one special piece of equipment. Thank you for your time, and I hope you enjoyed my review of the Brunswick Brute Strength.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this ball! I have to say that this is my benchmark ball! Why? Because I know this ball will give me the best indication of what's going on with the lanes! It's very forgiving and predictable, but still has the punch of a high end ball. I used a generic layout, "Label Leverage", with no weight hole. When I want to see the true nature of a ball, I don't want a layout that requires a weight hole. I have to give Brunswick credit for a great ball and not a lot of money! I'm not on staff and this is my belief not anyone else!
