BVP Rampage

BVP – Brunswick Value Performance – Exceptional Value and Great Performance
The Brunswick BVP™ series was developed to provide the widest range of reactions available at the popular moderate price point. The BVP series provides any bowler the ball performance they’re looking for at a price they can afford.

Technology
The BVP Rampage combines a pearlized PowerKoil 18 coverstock with the proven BVP medium-RG core system to create a ball reaction that fits between the Nemesis and Punisher. With its pearlized surface the Rampage delivers more length and more angularity than the Nemesis and its aggressive PowerKoil 18 coverstock delivers more total hooking action than the Punisher. The new BVP Rampage will send the pins into a frenzy. Get the power of BVP. Go on a Rampage.

Utility
Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the BVP Rampage will match up well on medium-dry to dry conditions.
When dulled: The BVP Rampage’s hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.

Reaction Setup
The BVP Rampage can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.

The BVP Rampage is finished with Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish. To bring your BVP Rampage back to its original factory finish sand the surface to 400-grit then use Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish. Available from your local Pro Shop.

I've had it for a while, so a review is good. I have it drilled about a modified 2e, though I wanted it 2l (guy didn't listen to my ideas, just drilled it up). Anyway, on any condition, it is somewhat hard to control, but that has a little to do with how early it hooks (and how late I'm used to). After several games, I got the hang of it. It's a real heavy hitter, but will die if fed enough oil. "Enough oil" is just about when the oil machine exploded and you have a lake instead of a lane (See, that's a thing called exxageration, but still! ). Anyway, good for a broken down shot, or one that's medium-high oil.

And drill it how you like it

Specs:
15.03lbs
2 inch pin
3oz top

Layout:
5-1/2 Pin to PAP
Pin under bridge
Cg kicked out 1/2 inch
X-hole on PAP

Review:
The Rampage is a unique ball that is very under rated. People say it's for Medium dry lanes but i don't totally agree. I think this ball can handle medium conditions. The backend reaction is really strong. As long as you have friction on the back this ball shines.

I tried the Rampage on AMF Synthetics. The shot was crowned with oil 7 to 7 and dry 7 and out. On the fresh house shot this ball was over and under. You hit the dry early and it goes through the beak. You get it in a little and it skates. I tried it after league in practice and the ball performed a lot better. When the track dried out more i was able to go 16 to 12. The ball would just annihilate the pocket. The hitting power was very impressive.

Before i drilled the weight hole i the ball was skid flippy. I had a hard time getting a consistent reaction with it. I was advised to drilled a weight hole to tone down the reaction with a hole on my pap. After i punched a weight hole on my pap the ball was night and day different. It works on left to right wet dry pretty well.

For a mid price ball this ball performs like high end equipment. Brunswick has made another winner.

Awesome ball.
Great color scheme!

Mine is drilled to roll early, with a 4 inch PIN-CG, PIN under ring. Not sure about PAP distance.

Things I liked:
  • Gets good traction in medium oil, but on this there is just enough skid not to jump on me.
  • Continuous arc on medium oil, good hard pop on dryer conditions.
  • Pretty Colors!

It's just a dang good ball!
You will most likely be satisfied with this one

Ball specs:
15 lbs 4 oz top weight
3.5" pin out
Drilled:
5x4 pin directly above ring finger
Surface used:
OOB

Have only thrown this in one practice session but so far am very impressed.  Got this ball to use in latter games when heads start breaking down, but threw it on a fresh house shot and had a great shot with it.
Ball was clean through the heads, read the midlane well and finished with a strong arc to moderate snap.  I did not encounter any over/under reaction on this condition, but feel like my execution was very good when throwing it.  Thank you Summer Sport Shot league for refining my game.

I get very good hitting power with this bowling ball. The follow-through is good, however I would not recommend it for dry lanes.

I have to start this off with one word....  WOW.  What a ball.  Brunswick has done it again, a moderately priced ball with high performance.  This is one of the hardest hitting balls I have owned.  My only disappointment was the length, it is a little shorter than I was looking for, but I will live with it for the hitting power, especially when I move in deep.  I have this ball laid out with the pin above the ring finger and the cg right below the ring finger.  It has about 1/2 top and 1/2 side.  This is a must have for league bowler's, and will fit nicely into the tournament player's arsenal.

We purchased this ball for my 14year old son and I have to say that I am very pleased with the purchase. We went into THE IGLOO (DAVE OLM'S PRO-SHOP in TAMPA, FLORIDA) and told him what was happening. Basically the Morich my son was throwing was hooking too much for his Saturday morning league. After talkign with Dave, he suggested the BVP RAMPAGE. Since we have started using it, his scores have gone up as well as his average. This Saturday, 14Oct2006, he shot his first 200 (252) with it.

This ball is very easy to throw. It skids nicely and flips into the pocket with no trouble at all. It is drilled to go long and it does just that. He stands 21 and throws 15. Even ifhe misses his mark by a few boards, the ball finds its way into the pocket. Pins seem to jump off of it cause of it hitting so hard.

I think Big B has a winner with this ball and if the other balls in the BVP line are like this one, then people should look at this line instead of a higher priced line. Great ball for the money, would suggest this to anyone that asks what ball they should look at.

This is probably my most favorite ball in my arsenal.  Ball is drilled 2L on the brunswick drilling sheet.  Favorite line to play with this ball is probably 3 arrow to 1st arrow, but it can handle almost any line I choose to play as long as I'm not insanely deep, 5th or 6th arrow.  It is very easy to adjust your line with this ball before having to change balls.  I've been able to use this ball for 6 straight games before with out loosing the shot with this ball.
This ball is more of a controlled strong arc at the end of the shot than a big skid snap.  I like this though because it makes the ball easier to control at the break point.  Overall the rampage is a very versatile ball that can be used on many conditions while being a very controllable ball.

I bought this ball because I mainly bowl on medium oiled lanes. It was drilled to be more angular and i don't know what the pin placement is. It works really well for what I want it to do and I really like how since I play the outside line it can look like it is going to go in the gutter and then it hooks back and hits the pocket. I really like how when you hit the pocket it just destroys the pins. I think that it is a really good ball from Brunswick and I really like the BVP line because you can get great performance for a cheaper price.

Drilled the ball with pin at 4-1/2" from PAP which puts it above and to the right of my ring finger.  The CG is tucked in towards my palm.  I guess this would be drilling 2L on the drill sheet.

No suprises here ... gets thru the heads with ease and make a predictable move at the end.  I can see this ball becoming a "go to" tourney piece when the shot gets tough or the lanes start sparking.  Hits like a truck.

I imagine it could be used in a wet/dry situation but have yet to try it.  If you are looking for HOOK, this is not your ball.  If control is what you're after, then you will love it.

Another winner by Brunswick with an affordable price.

This is another great ball from Brunswick. It gets down the lane very well and at the breakpoint makes an angular yet controllable move to the pocket. This ball also holds energy very well so when you hit the pocket, you carry exceptionally well. This ball works very well on both fresh shots and broken down ones so it is very versatile. One drawback I have found in this ball is that it has to be kept in a high gloss polish or the quality of the reaction suffers. Overall, I highly reccomend this ball to bowlers of all skills.

I've been bowling with a 10lb Brunswick Rampage for almost six months.  My average is 160.  I love my rampage on medium/dry lanes with its strong, late hook, but I'm having a horrible time on heavy oil.  I've finally have time to join a league, but at a house I normally don't bowl at.  They'll have very heavy oil for the league and I don't want to alter my Rampage.  Can anyone recommend a low rev, late hooking ball for a right-hander bowling between the first and third arrows?

I tend to disagree with crankabvp.  The ball is designed for medium light conditions and at the same time it is not intended for heavy oil.  I have the ball drilled for a skip snap reaction, the pin in the palm and the cg to right of my ring finger.  This ball gives me a very consistent reaction when the lanes start to dry out.  This ball is worth every cent.
