Description: CFT ulti-max pearl is our newest breakthrough in Chemical Friction Technology. The CFT ulti-max pearl coverstock uses the highest concentration of the friction additive in order to maximize the chemical system. The key to CFT is creating more traction with chemical friction instead of mechanical friction. By using less mechanical friction to produce hook, the CFT ulti- max pearl coverstock provides enhanced projection down the lane while saving axis rotation for more energy on the backend and through the pins.
CORE - The new Dual Flip I - Block core incorporates a top and bottom flip block over a centered mass. The centered mass creates stability while the dual flip blocks keep the core revving to the backend all the way through the pins for improved pin action.
BALL MOTION - With its Rough Buff Finish, the C · (System) ulti-max skids effortlessly through the front, saving axis rotation in the mid-lane to grab the backend for strong continuous response to friction that cuts easily through the pins on medium to medium-oily lane conditions.
REACTION SETUP - The C · (System) ulti-max can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for asymmetric bowling balls.
LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING - At Brunswick, the unique core shape of each individual ball is used for weights from 14 to 16 pounds. This approach to lightweight ball engineering provides bowlers with consistent ball reaction characteristics across this weight range. At 12 and 13 pounds, Brunswick uses a generic core shape with a RG-differential that is close enough to the 14 to 16 pound shape so the same drilling instructions can be used.

Likes:Used this ball at a tournament today with an undisclosed pattern, so I can only compare to what I saw from the rest of my cross and their equipment.  While others had problems getting balls to corner as this was the third shift of two on a lane and 4 games this ball easily cornered and rolled through the pins very well.  I did not leave any soft hits, and the only single pins left were a solid 9, solid 8, and a few 4 pins.  I was very impressed with the backend in the heavy carry down.  This ball is as advertised the strongest back end ball I have thrown from Brunswick.  I was very impressed with how this ball rolled through the pins, more than the 3.5 which I thought was one of Brunswick's best carrying balls.

Dislikes: Haven't used it enough to give any dislikes.

I drilled my first one 50 x 4.5x 75 with a P3 hole. I drilled very similar to a Wicked to see where they differed. The Ulti is longer and stronger. About 3-4 boards more.

What really impressed me with this ball was how deep I could get before I would flat ten, with the Wicked drilled this way I couldn't get deeper than 4th arrow. With the Ulti I could almost get to 6th arrow and the ball would go through the pins and get the ten out without any problems. This ball with the out of box surface has seen a few different patterns so far. I even threw it on Shark which I thought would not work. This is proving to be a very versitle ball!! This is a don't miss!!

LANE CONDITION

Length: 39 ft

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): PBA Scorpion

COMMENTS

Likes: Entry angle …… this is by far the longest and strongest backed end reaction Brunswick has had. The cover care combination is a perfect match. The cover clears the heads and unlike the 3.5 you will not need to fight the friction in the mid lane. The Ulti –max allowed me move further left and not lose carry, as long as I had oil to the left I could clear the heads the get the ball back from the deepest of angles.

Dislikes: The length of oil weather short or long was not the issue, the biggest issue was burned out heads along with burned mid lanes. If the heads where burned I was able to increase loft and clear the heads. If the mid lane was burned I was able to keep moving left and feeding the ball to the burned spot.

COMMENTS

Likes: Strength and ability to create angle through the pins.

Dislikes: Needs some oil. Definitely not a drier condition ball

The C System Ulti-max is the newest addition to a C System line that gives us Brunswick users never before seen ball motions.  The Ulti-max is the ball that defies the critics who say that Brunswick balls don't create down lane angle and won't go through the pins when thrown away from the pocket.  This ball likes lots of angle through the front, recovers on the back, and absolutely obliterates the rack.  This ball carried almost everything but maybe in some cases the nine pin.  I like it in situations where stronger balls like the Alphamax and the lethal are a little too much.  It also fairs very well on flatter patterns where there is a little breakdown and you still have some volume of oil on the lanes.  I went to this ball on the 39 foot Team USA pattern the third game when the Lethal Revolver was starting too early.  I was able to make a move left and just let the ball wheel.  I reeled off the front 8 for a 276 game with the only misses being my fault.  If I missed left it held and if I missed a little right it recovered with ease.  Those looking for skid flip and ability to open up the lane need to look no further.  The C System Ulti-max is an absolute backend machine.  Give the Ulti-max a test drive and enjoy the impressive backend motion!

By far the longest and strongest C system of all.  I drilled mine with a 4 1/2 inch pin to PAP.  Pin ended up being under my bridge with the cg straight down, no hole needed.  I wanted a nice stable drilling for this one to control the strong backend this ball has. In the past I had a hard time controlling the backend motion with a couple of the C Systems, but this one is nothing like the others.  The ball got through the heads super clean and had a strong controllable motion on the backend.  The shot I tested it on doesn't have a ton of volume, so it only lasted a few games.  I was easily able to ball down to the massive and continiue where I ended with the Ulti Max.  The Ulti Max is great for Medium condition with decent volume and also Heavy oil.  Will drill another with a weaker pin so I'll be able to use it on those medium patterns without a ton of volume.

 Layout: 70x5.5x70

Surface: 1000 grit Abralon with Light Polish

PAP: 5" right

Weight hole: 25/32, 3.5" deep at P3

Lane condition: THS

All I can say about this ball is WOW!! For many years, the stereotypical ball reaction of most Brunswick products was early revving and not a whole lot of angle created on the back part of the lane.  You can now delete that stereotype!

The C-System Ulti Max is very clean through the heads, and once the core of this beast gets started there isn't any stopping it. Even with the high angle sum I used to layout this piece, this ball creates a ton of angle and recovers very well. Another thing I really love about this ball is how it stores energy and continues through the pins.

Brunswick has a real gem in the C-System Ulti Max. This clean, angular ball motion is a welcome addition to my arsenal. The folks at Brunswick have been generous enough to offer a $50 rebate with purchase of this product.

Bottom line, this ball is a monster. Visit your local Pro Shop starting August 1st, and get this ball in your hands. This will be one of the hottest balls on the market, don't miss out!

Likes: Clean through the fronts

Dislikes:

I drilled my 2nd Ulti-Max with a 105x4.5x40 layout. This puts the mass bias to the left of the thumb. This layout helps the ball loose speed quicker to smooth out the back end without sacrificing that clean though the fronts.

This ball has been very useful and helpful everytime I have thrown it so far. With this layout it gets clean through the fronts and not too angular off the spot. I used this last weekend at a regional on Cheetah and the layout worked great. The ball would get to the spot and turn over and roll through the pins.

if you are looking for that ball to get you through the fronts and not let you down to turn the corner. Look no further than the C System Ulti-Max!!

LANE CONDITION

Length: Estimated 40'

Volume: Moderate

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): 2011 July High Roller

BALL REACTION

Length: This ball provides a fair amount length with moderate to strong back end.  I would say the ball goes a touch longer than a virtual gravity.

Back End:  Strong and predictable, providing you keep your speed in the building.

Overall Hook:7.5/10

Midlane Read: Not a whole lot of midlane read on this ball.  If the pattern is fresh, you need to make sure you either tumble the ball or really keep your speed in check.  This ball looks for dirt to the right or downlane.

Breakpoint Shape: Angular

COMMENTS

Likes: Strong, continuous finish, as well as the good job it does reading backend conditions.  This ball has the capability to really open a pattern up, if used judiciously.

Dislikes: I don't have any dislikes for this ball at this point, but I would be wary against throwing it on a higher volume pattern without a big surface change.

COMMENTS

Likes: This ball has some serious pop in the backend! It compliments the C-System Alpha-Max perfectly and almost out hooks in overall hook! It is cleaner than any other high-performance ball that Brunswick has released, but it feels more controllable than any other bowling ball that has this much action on the backend! It feels versatile enough to be used on both short and long patterns and will demolish any house pattern put in its way! The best part about this ball though is that it maintains the best quality that the Alpha-Max possessed, and that was the ability to keep the pins very low to cause a higher carry percentage!

Dislikes: Non as of now, but I have not tried any surface changes or alternate drillings

Likes:  This ball clears the heads with ease.  The THS I practiced on is not enough oil for this balls overall hook, but even with that the ball was able to clear the heads with ease and finish extremely strong.  I was able to move in and loft gutter caps without losing carry.  The ball drives through the pins very well.

Dislikes: This ball needs oil.  Additionally, it is so angular that it has the potential for coming in behind the head pin if used by someone with hand on a THS.

Overall:  This will be a great tournament play ball for the players with hand and a great house shot ball for the average hand to soft hand players.  With Brunswick's $50.00 Rebate this ball is a must.

My C-System Ulti-Max was drilled 60 X 4 1/2 X 35 by Owner and Operator, Doug Morton, of Xclusive Pro Shop in Anchorage, Alaska.

We anticipated a ball reaction that would compliment the other two balls we punched out that day...my Massive Damage and Lethal Revolver.  The C-System was intended to be longer and stronger on the backend than both the Lethal and the Massive.  I've had great success with the C-systems to this date so I was really excited to get on the lanes and take this one for a ride.

My review of this ball is based on multiple practice sessions on the 2011 USBC Open Championship Pattern at Center Bowl in Anchorage, Alaska.   The house characteristics tend to make most patterns play about a foot or two longer.  This pattern is 41 feet in length.

The Ulti-max for me is a ball I intend to step into after a little track has developed.  It is supposed the fit between my Massive Damage and my original Damage.  Once the track had developed a bit, this ball was so easy to strike with.  With my feet on 18 and my target around 7-8 at the arrows, The ball effortlessly made it to the breakpoint.  As the ball made its way down lane, you could see the core began to rev up as the silver and red swirls of the ball began to blend.  You could see the ball make such a smooth and effortless transition on the lane preparing to attack the pins.  As the ball rallied into the breakpoint, I was overcome with joy as it still made a powerful turn at the breakpoint.  Simply put, the pins didn't have a prayer.  It is the strongest, most angular ball I have ever thrown  playing in the track.  So clean, so powerful.  The continuation through the pins is truly spectacular and I can't recall leaving a corner pin in any of the games throwing this ball.  A few 9 pins maybe.  I was practicing with a friend of mine who throws Storm and Roto and after seeing not only this piece, but the Lethal and Massive in action, he was talking about giving Brunswick a try again.  These three pieces truly work in unison and if you're looking to upgrade your arsenal, it's hard to argue with these new balls and the rebates that go with them.  Save money, throw more strikes.  It's a win-win situation.

Dislikes:  none so far

This ball redefines backend hook and continuation!  On my first shot with the ball on the Scorpion pattern throwing over the 4th arrow out to the 8 board at the breakpoint 45 feet down lane, I stood at the foul line with my mouth and eyes wide open in disbelief thinking WOW did that ball have its left turn signal on because it just crossed 3 lanes of traffic going 65.  This ball is soooooo clean in the front of the lane and reads the midlane a smidge; but, when it reaches friction downlane, it makes a strong move to the pocket with continuation through the pins.  I used it for games 6 - 8 in the PBA regional on the Scorpion pattern, and I was playing 4th and 5th arrow out to 8 at the breakpoint and it still had enough energy to carry the 10 pin.  I left 2, 10 pins and 1, 9 pin in those 3 games.  I also used it on the World Tenpin Bowling Associations Seoul pattern (http://www.worldtenpinbowling.com/pdf/WTBASeoul-39.pdf), and I was playing a similar line as the Scorpion pattern with the same STRONG backend reaction.  This ball doesn't quit down lane and is another great addition to the C*(System) line where a more angular reaction is needed.  I kept moving left in the practice session and on the 2 patterns, and it still had enough to get the corner pins out.  If you need a ball that corners hard and continues through the pins, then don't pass this one up especially with the $50 rebate.
