Title: C-System Maxxed Out
Post by: Ballreviews on June 26, 2012, 11:52:32 AM

- Core Type : I-Block
- Coverstock: CFT maxxed-out Solid
- Color: Cobalt and Teal Solid All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown.
- Factory Finish: 4000 grit Siaair Micro Pad finish
- A few tiny pit holes in the cover stock of the ball are normal
- RG max: 2.523
- RG min: 2.468
- RG diff: 0.055
- Hook Potential: 170 (Scale 10-200)
- Length: 110 (Scale 25-235)
- Typical Breakpoint Shape: 85 Smooth Arch (Scale Smooth Arc 10-Angular 100)
- Recommended Lane Condition: medium-oily to oily
- Description: The cobalt/teal solid C-System maxxed-out combines the new Ultra Low RG Dual Flip I-Block symmetrical core with our new C-System maxxed-out coverstock to create a strong and controllable hook motion that serves as the perfect complement to the C-System versa-max. The CFT maxxed-out coverstock maximizes the friction additives to strengthen the mid-lane grip and backend reaction for maximum control.
The new Ultra Low Dual Flip I – Block symmetrical core incorporates a top and bottom flip block over a centered mass. The centered mass creates stability while the dual flip blocks keep the core revving to the backend all the way through the pins for improved pin action.
With its 4000 grit Siaair Micro Pad finish, the C•(System) maxxed-out skids easily through the front, saving axis rotation for the backend with a strong continuous breakpoint. The C•(System) maxxed-out is best used on fresh and wet/dry lane conditions where control is needed on medium-oily to oily lane patterns.
The C•(System) maxxed-out can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for symmetric bowling balls.
At Brunswick, the unique core shape of each individual ball is used for weights from 14 to 16 pounds. This approach to lightweight ball engineering provides bowlers with consistent ball reaction characteristics across this weight range. At 12 and 13 pounds, Brunswick uses a generic core shape with a RGdifferential that is close enough to the 14 to 16 pound shape so the same drilling instructions can be used.

LANE CONDITION

Length:  41 ft

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Scorpion

COMMENTS

Likes:  Strong heavy rolling ball where there is a bit of back end or a defined track area.  Great reaction on a 39 foot slightly crowned pattern.

Dislikes:  Ball labored on the fresh longer scorpion pattern as the oil transitioned down the lane.

Ball Reviewing              Layout Used
C-System MaXXed Out      40 x 4 ¾ x 60

Ball Surface              Oil Pattern Reviewed On
Factory Finish      Fresh THS

The ball read the lane perfect.  I got easy push through the heads without seeing it skate through the blend.  It revved up in all the right places and regardless of how deep I moved the ball just continued to read the blend of a house shot and allowed me to get to the pocket.  The carry was great.  I saw very little deflection and even poorly executed shots seemed to fix themselves as the ball flared up.

I compared this against a C-system Versa Max drilled with the same layout and finished at 2000.  The MaXXed Out was less prone to shooting though the pattern longer and was a 6-3 move more aggressive.  The MaXXed out also allowed me to move away from the dry and get deeper while still recovering while the Versa still needed the friction.

This ball is going to be a new benchmark ball.  The Versa-Max was in my opinion the best ball I had thrown in years and this may quickly take that’s place.  It is extremely versatile, controllable, yet strong.  I have thrown it on the THS reviewed above and during a sweeper tournament in the Team USA Pattern Los Angeles and this ball read both patterns perfectly.  The only weakness to this ball will be too much friction.

I rate this ball a 10 out 10!

This ball for me will be a bench mark ball.  It is more traditional Brunswick.  I know alot of people thought the Versa was benchmark material, but for me it had a little too much backend to be a bench mark ball, which is a good thing, as it ranks up there as one of my all time favorite balls.  The Maxed Out for me is 5 and 3 stronger than the Versa but on the broken down house shot, I had to force it through the front more, and if I didn't get enough tilt, it was a little used up at the break point.  On fresher backends with longer patterns and some head oil, this ball should be spot on.
Dislikes:
Doesn't seem to like burnt heads with moderate carry down, but it isn't for that, so this is really not a dislike.

Likes: I see this ball as a great compliment to the Versa Max...When my versa is going a couple feet too long this is the perfect solution without having to change angles/targets drastically. This ball is earlier than the versa but still has that great continuation that we all have known to love. If you have a versa in your bag you need its bigger brother! You'll love this compliment to one of the greatest brunswick releases ever!

Likes: Very fun to roll this ball!! I like the easy it gets down the lane, the strong read of the mid-lane and the big turn at the breakpoint! Versa-Max doesn't hook enough for ya? Here's the answer, Maxxed Out!! My favorite layout 55 deg x 4-1/4" x 55 deg with weight hole down val! The Maxxed Out is very easy to get down the lane and when you don't think it's going to hook, look out for the left turn!!! This ball is a lot of fun to open the lane up with!!!

Dislikes: None so far and when this ball is to strong, it's time for the Versa-Max!!!

strong cover required me to make a larger move with my feet than I expected but I could still send the ball out to the same breakpoint. On heavier volumes up front, this ball is golden and possibly the best in the biz. You just can’t expect this ball to get through a desert in the heads.

Final thoughts:
Maxxed-out is truly the big brother of the Versa. Both are terrific choices for a benchmark ball. The Versa more for med-dry to med patterns and the Maxxed-out for med to med-heavy patterns for most. The Versa might truly be the best bowling ball I have ever  thrown and the Maxxed-out will be giving it a run for its money! I actually have a third Maxxed-out planned to have a 160* by 1.5” by 80* to blend out the pattern even further and allow myself to square up on medium patterns even more so than what Ball #2 allows me to do. High speed and/or low rev players will find the Maxxed-out to be the go to ball. If you find the Versa to be a favorite in your bag but are looking for more overall motion, then you’re crazy to not pick up this ball. The Maxxed-out gives me the same reaction shape as the Versa, just about 5 boards more overall hook. With the same layout, a Versa and a Maxxed-out could very well be the best 2 ball combo in the game today. Also, it would not surprise me in the least if the Maxxed-out becomes the ball of the year (the Nexxxus f(P+S) will give it a run as well). Get one today and you’ll be thanking yourself later, trust me on that one!

If you have any questions regarding the Maxxed-out or any other Brunswick or DV8 equipment, don’t hesitate to send me a message. Thanks for reading. Good luck and good bowling!

Likes: The versatility and overall usability....its my favorite ball....my 90 percent ball

Dislikes: What's not to like!

The C System Maxxed out arrives as a stronger earlier version of the Versamax.  Those that had trouble getting the Versamax to read soon enough on the fresher lane conditions will find that this ball will fill that gap more than capably.  The Maxxed out has a sure read of the midlane and then makes a strong move toward the pocked with great continuation through the pins.  This ball is cleaner and stronger on the backend than the Revolver series balls that preceded it.  It is also several boards stronger than the C System Versamax making the two the most formidable one two punch in bowling.  It does a great job of handling slicker conditions where the Versamax wouldn't read without significant surface adjustments.  This ball is very responsive to changes in release and speed.  The newest C System release will continue to get stronger as you have to chase the pattern left during the breakdown period.   Where other midlane reading symmetrical stop, this one turns into the Energizer bunny and just keeps coming!  This is my new favorite ball as I have found that I can play almost anywhere on the house shot with it as long as I match speed and rotation to what I am trying to do.  I can also see this ball working very well on sport type conditions as It displays that benchmark type reaction that typically makes flatter patterns more playable.  Confidence comes with consistency and I am very confident in this ball.  The C System Versamax is the type of reaction you don't want to be caught without.  It has great carry, controlled roll, and versatility most other balls can't live up to.  If you are looking for a great everyday benchmark type ball for moderate conditions the C System Maxxed out is the ball your looking for.

The all new C System Maxxed Out is the big brother to great Versa Max. This ball has been added to compliment the Versa Max when there is more oil and you need more hook. The Maxxed Out is at least 4 and 2  stronger than the Versa Max.

I drilled 2 of these. First one is drilled 65x5 3/4x40. I wanted this ball to use more on house shots in league.  I haven't bowled on many house shots since drilling this ball but have still thrown it some. This layout will allow the ball to clear the fronts easily and have a sharper motion down lane. This ball does not flip but does have a strong motion down lane.

The second one is drilled RICO. I have used this layout on alot of balls in the past but haven't used it recently. So I thought I would use it on this and see what is gave me. This layout still clears the fronts without effort and comes around the corner nicely. I have used this going pretty straight and hooking most of the lane. A simple tweak in my release would allow me to hook it even more but there are better options as the lanes breakdown.

The new Maxxed Out is very similar to Versa just stronger. Gives you the same ease through the fronts and a very predictable move down lane. If you like the Versa and need a some more hook drill a Maxxed Out. You will NOT be disappointed!!

COMMENTS

Overall: 8.5/10
If you bowl on heavy or medium-heavy conditions that are on the tighter side, this symmetric cored Brunswick C-System maxxed-out will be a great option to offer a consistent ball reaction. It will read the midlane well and store plenty of energy for the backends. You’ll rarely blow through the breakpoint with this ball. If you have less hand than our rev dominant tester, you will likely be able to take advantage of the strengths of this ball on medium conditions as well. Very good offering at a very reasonable price point from Brunswick.

C. Honor Scores:  15 – 300’s, 9 – 800’s
D. Ball Speed:  17.5 – 18.0 mph
E. Revolution Rate:  325 rpm

General Ball Information

F. Name of Bowling Ball: Nexxxus F(P+S)
G. Weight of Bowling Ball: 15 lbs
H. Layout of bowling Ball: pin up
I. How many games do I have on this ball? About 40
J. Favorite Surface on this bowling ball: out of box
K. Description of ball motion: smooth and lengthy with skid and a nice flip action down lane
L. Overall Hook (1 none – 10 lots): 8.5
M. Versatility (1worst - 10best):  8
N. Overall Rate (1worst - 10best): 8.5
O. Why do I recommend buying this bowling ball? This ball seems to be, with 40 games on it, the best ball I have currently.   I like the skid-flip action, which means to me that the ball saves all of its power for the pins and I receive lots of strikes.
Special Information
P. How does this ball compare to another ball?  I feel that the ball is a 3-2 move left on a house shot compared to the Nexxus F(P+R).
Q. What are the strengths of this bowling ball? Skid-flip action, does not hook early
R. What are the weaknesses of this bowling ball? Too strong for drier lanes, I leave many corner pins during transition because of my entry angle.
S. Oil Patterns used on: House Shot
T. How does this ball react on house patterns? Long skid motion, then strong hook on backend
U. How does this ball react during transition? I lose carry during transition and I must make correct moves to knock down all ten pins.
V. When do I find myself using this ball? Always, this is my new favorite ball. Also, I use it on medium to heavy oiled house shots.
W. Additional Comments:  This ball is great for me, and I believe it will be great for you as well. I have one 300 with this ball already. Nice job Brunswick, this ball is great.

Likes: Smooth and Strong throughout the lane. what I can tell you about the Maxxed Out and Sport conditions is that as long as you have a pattern with a fairly decent amount of oil up front you will be very happy with the reaction downlane. The low RG/ Fast revving core gives the ball great control and a smooth transition which matches up well on most sport conditions. Lower volume patterns may force you to add some polish or put it away.

Dislikes: None on this pattern

The C-System Maxxed Out is as advertised. I have two of them to complement the two C-System Versa Max's I have. Both balls are in box condition with no initial cover alterations. The new Maxxed Out is a great complement to the C-System Versa Max. It is about 4-5 boards stronger with the same general characteristics of the Versa. Very clean through the front. The way the ball reads the lane makes it an ideal benchmark ball. I have found that the Versa Max and now the Maxxed Out are the first balls out of my bag and I use them quite a bit. Brunswick has really hit the mark in the direction they have taken the C-System line with these two balls. Once in a while a ball comes along where you say this needs to be in everyone's bag. This is the case with these two.
On a fresh house shot you can easily play the track area and ride the shim. If there is friction the Maxxed Out will read it and make a strong but, controlled arc to the pocket. I find I prefer the pin down drilling for fresh house shot conditions. The layout and the way the ball reads minimizes over/under. I can easily switch to the pin up layout if I need more length or to create an increase in angle on the back end.

Dislikes:
The only observation I can make with the Maxxed Out is to stay on top of the surface prep. I found the coverstock tends to shine up quickly. Hit it quickly with a 2K pad and your back in business.

COMMENTS

Layout: 4" x 4.5" x 45 degrees

The Maxxed Out was exactly what I wanted out of the next Brunswick release.  Early roll with continuation in the back, highly predictable and covers plenty of boards.  This ball lets me get deeper into the oil on THS and gives me that smooth motion on wet-dry conditions that I was looking for.  If not for this ball at the Proprietors Cup, I would have been lost.  I felt like I had a ball reaction up there with those that were really scoring well, but I left a number of swisher corner pins on hits that normally carry on Twister pins.

I love this ball and it’s a perfect complement to the Versa Max, it should be anywhere from 2-4 boards more than a Versa.

COMMENTS

Likes:This ball is a very good compliment to the Versa-Max and will help the bowler when the lanes have a larger than usual volume of oil or the pattern is a little bit to long for the Versa-Max. This ball is very good through the midlanes and very clean through the heads. This ball i found is about 2-3 boards stronger than my similarly drilled Versa-Max and about 5 boards stronger than my pin down Versa-Max. This ball, although with more backend, is still very predictable but with a sharper and more powerful move toward the pocket than the Versa-Max. This ball stores the energy to go through the pins and carry the light hits when shots are sent wide of target. All-in-all this is a very good benchmark ball for any bowler looking for predictability on the lanes.

BALL REACTION

The new Maxxed-Out is very versatile and will fit well into a variety of playing styles. I was able to play up the boards staying behind the ball and move inside get more initial axis rotation.  The ball clears the heads with ease, reads the midlane well, and has a strong, continuous backend motion with no or very little deflection.  The Maxxed-Out reminds me of my Alpha-Max, carrying light hits, i.e. taking out the 5-7's or those flat 10's. This ball was great on a fresh house shot and still strong when the heads loosen up.  The Maxxed-Out is not a skid/snap ball but the ball will read the midlane and set.

COMMENTS

COMPARISONS

I compared this ball with: Nexxus, Nexus Solid, and Versa-Max (all with similar layouts). The Maxxed-Out is the go to ball when the Nexxus f(P+R)and Nexus f(P+F) are too strong off the friction an leaving those pesky ringing 10's and the Versa-Max goes to long, coming in behind the head pin. The Maxxed-Out transitions into the roll phase seamlessly from the midlane when the lanes are a little burnt up. This ball will let me in stay in track area longer and keep a direct line to the pocket. This ball fits in between the either Nexus Solids (Nexus or Nexxus) and the Versa-Max.

Likes: The Maxxed-Out is definitely a benchmark ball and is versatile.

Dislikes: None so far.

Great compliment to the vesa-maxx, When the versa is begining to labor getting around the corner/or breakpoint this is the go to ball with the core being enlarged 25% it gives you the early reading on the lane that you need to get the ball to the pocket and it's carry power is very good. Still smooth like the versa maxx yet when you need the early read on heavier oil this is the piece if the versa can't. Layout for me 45x4x60

COMMENTS

Since this ball is a step up from the Versa Max, i opted to use the same layout as my Versa Max, only utilizing a slightly higher flaring pin position, and when I say slightly I really mean it, as it was only 1/4" stronger.

The Maxxed Out really serves it's purpose. While I love to use my Versa Max anytime I can, it's just not enough sometimes on the fresh with it's super clean cover, so the Maxxed Out fills that void. It's really a pretty simple idea; same reaction with more hook.

On the 41' USBC White Pattern, the maxxed out is roughly 6-3 stronger than my Versa Max. The motion is nearly identical. It doesn't get much better than that when going through transition. Even though this ball is stronger than the versa, it doesn't limit your ability to steepen your angles. Since our 41' White pattern plays fairly slick and most people play further right to start, this allows me to use this ball all 3 games of league night without having to switch to the Versa. On a condition that breaks down quicker and requires faster moves inside, I then have the ability to go to the Versa if the Maxxed Out quits hooking. Although I have not encountered that problem, I definitely look forward to that option come tournament time.

While I thought the Versa Max fit that "first out of the bag" spot for me, The Maxxed Out has one-upped it. It is definitely my new benchmark ball and I'm sure many league and tournament bowlers will be saying the same thing in no time.

16# 3-4 pin with a top weight of 2.8

I love the Versa Max, so I decided to drill the Maxxed out identical.  The pin ended up above my middle finger with the cg straight down a little negative.  No hole was needed.  I kept it OOB.

Comparing it to the Versa Max, I would say its a good 3-4 boards stronger.  Its backend is slightly more angular for me, but still has that smooth predictable motion that the Versa Max was known for.  When I using my Versa max and I notice some carry down, I can just take out the Maxxed out and play exactly where I finished with the Versa.

Maxxed Out OOB Finish
5" pin to PAP, above fingers, 40 degree MB

Kegel Autobahn 42'

After using this ball for a few weeks, this is a great ball for on the fresh. Each week I used it for the first game. When I started to see it burn up a little I would ball down to the versa max.  The cover is very strong compared to the original black versa max, which makes this a good two ball combo.

I like the fact that the differential is high on this ball and I can utilize longer pin positions. This drilling does give me enough pop on the back end to carry on the fresh, and a little area to the right.

This ball will for sure come with me to every tourney, and will be first out of the bag on medium/long conditions.

COMMENTS

Likes: Strong arc type roll

Dislikes: None

The maxxed-out is a great compliment to the versa-max. The maxxed-out is a stronger ball that can handle the heavier oil conditions. It reads the midlane and starts up a little sooner than the versa-max with a continous roll, approximately 4 boards stronger. With the box 4000 surface on the solid coverstock, it cuts through the oil and continues downlane. I have taken it to 2000, and it didn't over react even with my higher rev rate. I have this ball drilled to be my heavy oil ball and it hasn't dissapointed me yet. I can use this ball on house shots or kegel oil patterns. Also, I can use this ball to open up the lane and keep moving left to chase the oil. If you are looking for a heavier oil condition ball, then the maxxed-out is a great choice.

COMMENTS

Likes:  Revs hard and rolls heavy, great on fresh THS

Dislikes:  Can labor a little on longer patterns or where there is less friction on the lane surface.

This is my benchmark league ball for longer and heavier THS.  Drilled 55x5x30 with no hole.  The Maxxed Out allows me to play near the friction on the outside.  It reads the mids really well, revs up hard and has a heavy roll with good continuation.  This ball also offers me control on medium length conditions where there is a lot of friction outside and in the backends.  It reads well and doesn't over react off the spot, giving me a smooth transition and a heavy rolling arc to the pocket.

COMMENTS

Likes: Very quick revving, very strong hitting and very versatile cover. Great ball for a spinner release or Bowler looking for a smooth arcing motion.

Dislikes: Out of the box for me, the ball was very over/under. Over hooked with it hit friction and under hooked when it hit the oil line. Could have been the condition I bowled on. Sanded the ball to 2000 and WOW, what a difference it made. Under over was gone and man does this ball hit. One of the hardest hitting balls I seen come from Brunswick.

The C-System Maxxed Out is a solid/sanded version of the highly successful C-System Versa Max.

I was very excited for this ball as I had a lot of success with the Versa Max, however it tended to be a little skidish on oily lanes.

I drilled two C-System Maxxed Outs:
#1 - Pin Down 3 3/8/ x 45
#2 - Pin Up 5 x 60

Both balls gave me a good “benchmark” ball reaction for oily conditions.  The pin down ball was very easy to read the entire length of the lane.  The ball cleared the front part of the lane very easily, picked up in the mid-lane, and provided a strong arcing and controllable ball reaction.  The pin up Maxxed Out gave me a similar ball reaction however because of the additional pin distance it got down the lane further and seemed to break harder on the backend.

The pin down Maxxed Out was compared to a Versa Max that I’ve fallen in love with.  This Maxxed Out soon became my new “love.”  I had the Maxxed Out 4 boards left with my feet and 2 boards with my eyes.

Strengths - The roll on this ball was the strength of this ball.  It was very predictable for a strong ball. For me this ball worked well on several patterns.  Maybe it is because this ball matched up well with me but seemed like this ball carried everything!

Weakness – Only the obvious was the weakness of this ball.  Ball seemed to labor and burn out on dry conditions.

Pattern tested on: 38ft house shot
Volume: n/a
Drilling pattern: 4 x 4 off of PAP weight hole on PAP
75 degree layout
Surface: box finish

The ball rolls extremely smooth! Clears the heads very well, with a smooth read through the mid-lane, and has a good continuing motion on the back ends.
This would be a good ball to start with on fresh patterns because the ball reads the mid lane very nicely. It is a good compliment to the versa-max.
This ball has very good energy transfer to the pins as well, it hits very nicely and again, when it hits the pins it really drives through them!

I would recommend this ball for anyone! Especially if your looking for that medium to heavy oil range in your arsenal!

COMMENTS

Likes: Consistent, smooth backend

Dislikes: ...yet weak backend; I cannot rely on this ball to pick up the 3-6-9-10 spare compared to all my other equipment

Got this ball during a clearance sale at my local pro shop. Drilled it with the pin up and right of the ring finger with the CG near my center of grip to have a strong layout with smooth consistent backend.

I was honestly disappointed at first with this ball/layout combo because it was very weak going into the pocket. Many ringing/flat 10's, and the 5 pin makes a lot of cameo appearances. I could not play anywhere inside with this ball. However, I got used to this ball and I use it when I employ the "straighter is greater" approach when the lanes are very tricky. I use this ball starting at the 10 board shooting it to the 2nd arrow and keeping the hand behind the ball. Crushes the pindeck when I hit the pocket, and light shots make the pins dance around and scatter. Carry not so much a problem with this shot since I can get a better angle of entry with this shot.
