The Contact Zone Pro combines ProActive 2.0 with a Low-RG Doorknob shaped core design to create a ball with reactive type length through the oil with a smooth but strong ProActive 2.0 type of breakpoint. When Reactive coverstocks over react the ball will give strong but smoother reactions off the dry. When ProActive balls are changing direction too early the Contact Zone Pro will provide extra length. The ball is ideal for smoothing out over reactions on Medium Dry to Medium Heavy oil.

The specifications are: Color: Seafoam Green; Part Number: 60-103190; Coverstock: Proactive 2.0 Cover Stock; Surface Factory Finish: Cerium Oxide Trizact finish; Hook Potential: 20-12 (dull/shiny); Traction Characteristic: DTX-2; Typical length: 5; Typical Backend: 11; RG Max: 2.587; RG Min: 2.549; RG Diff.: 0.038; Average RG: 4.8; Hardness: 78-79.

I have had the Contact Zone-Pro since it came out in April, and I must say that at first I was truly disappointed with the ball.  From the specs. it looked to be similar to the Riot Zone-Pro with the core, but just a different coverstock and less flare.  When I first threw it (like the Riot Zone-Pro) I did not see the length that was advertised.  Eventually my Riot Zone improved greatly in its performance, and is an excellent medium condition ball and works great on carrydown.  The Contact Zone-Pro on the other hand still did not impress me.  It seemed to want to jump as soon as it hit a dry board or dry area on the lane, and it just seemed to be unpredictable.  The one thing positive I could say though was it hit like a truck!  One of the hardest hitting balls I have owned.  Still the ball was not good on fresh backends, but was good with carrydown because it has a strong backend (surprisingly strong for a ball with lesser flare than most Brunswick balls).

I had not thrown the Contact Zone-Pro in quite awhile, but decided to practice with it today and now I have changed my mind about it.  I was on a shot with plenty of head oil, with some backends.  Normally this house has massive backends, but apparently there was some bowling prior to me practicing.  There was still some good backends though.  In the nine games I threw with it I had a 730 series, then a 679, and then.....WOW... .267-300-229=796!!  I was playing up the boards about the 8 board, and moved in as the games went along to about the 11 board.  The Contact Zone held up in the oil very well, it rolled very even and strong, and still hit like a tank!  When I sent it out to the dry it did make the early move like it wanted, but there was some carrydown to keep it from over-reacting too soon most of the time.  Now at times when they started to dry out the Contact Zone would let you know it.  If it hit the dry too soon to the right it jumped immediately, but if it went through the oil and was projected out into the dry far enough down the lane it would react exellently with a very strong backend and tremendous carry.  Going up the boards it would hold the line nicely and did not have too much of a tendancy to skate across the oil.  You could play a nice hold shot with the Contact.  Now this was a fairly easy shot I was bowling on, but the Contact Zone reacted beautifully on it.  It was by far the better ball to be throwing at the time.  I was also throwing my Jade Quantum and Danger Zone-Pro HPD.  In comparison to the HPD, the Contact Zone rolled later, and skidded further through the oil, but had a stronger backend than the HPD.  Now this ball is pretty conditional it looks like, but I will be throwing it more on other conditions to see how it holds up.  I'll be interested to see how it does with more carrydown because this ball has very strong roll in the last 10-20 feet.

This Contact Zone-Pro was drilled leverage-stacked with about a 2" pin.  The pin was to the right of the ring finger (stacked) and was slightly above the right finger.  It had about 3 oz. of top weight.

On an easier shot this ball performed better than it EVER has, and I will be interested to see how it reacts on other shots or if it reverts back to its oldself and reacts unpredictably and violently.  As of today though, my mind has changed about the Contact Zone-Pro and I'm loving it.  I have seen many negative reviews of it, but if you still have one out there give it a few more trys and be patient...who knows maybe you'll have the same results I had today.  Good luck!

This is another review of the Contact Zone-Pro, but in this review I thought I'd compare both the Contact Zone-Pro and the Riot Zone-Pro to let everyone know the differences between the two.  Both are close in their specs, both are DTX-2 coverstocks, and both have a length of 5.0.  Between the two, the Contact Zone gets into a roll later, has more of a reactive snap, and does go longer than the Riot Zone.  The Contact also has less flare than the Riot.  In Brunswicks spec. sheet they give the Riot Zone a backend of 12 and the Contact Zone a backend of 11.  I will disagree with that.  The Contact Zone for me definitely gets more snap on the backend, and is much more reactive in its nature than the Riot.  Both also have similar cores (although the Command Zone Arc is more similar in its core shape compared to the Contact than the Contact is to the Riot).  The Riot and Contact hit the pins very hard, and both work better on carrydown conditions especially when the heads are burned up some and oil has carried down.  The Riot Zone also seems to be a little more controlable coming off the dry boards than the Contact Zone, but this does make sense since the Contact Zone is a ProActive 2.0 coverstock.

Both of these are drilled in a leverage-stacked patter, the Riot Zone's pin is only about 1" where the Contact is 2".  The Contact does have both the pin and CG higher than the Riot.  Now I know this would make some difference, but not enough in my opinion where the differences between the two would be that noticable.  Both are Cerium Oxide Trizact finish, and then Finesse applied to each.  I got a good reading between the two.  More length and more snap is what you get from the Contact, and still good length but more control out of the Riot Zone.  The most noticable difference is when the Contact gets into a roll much later, and defintiely flares less than the Riot.  Also, the way these two react to the dry boards are unique...the Contact more violent where the Riot is more of a controlled arc/snap.  Hopefully this will be a good summary of how these two react.  Good luck!

First,  the specs:

16 lbs

2.6 top wt.

pin to c.g : 2"

wt. hole 6" from pin, 5.25" from c.g.

pin at 3:00 and c.g about3" from center of grip.  (Leverage)

This ball disproves all notions that anything by brunswick hooks at your feet.  The length i get form this ball is awesome,  and when it gets to the backend,  it snaps..HARD.

This is more of a medium-light oil ball,  and if it's used on a synthetic lane,  watch out.. =)

Pros:  Hits like a MAC truck

Cons:  Ball track is clearly visible on the ball.  (Yep,  that's all i can think of.)

This is my second review on this ball.  On the first one,  I mentioned that it's more of a light-medium oil ball...  I have to Revise that.  If you want to use the contact zone on heavily oiled lanes,  be sure to dull it first.  I used Neo-tac Hook-it on the ball and WOW! The lenght is still there and the ball hooks with a hockey-stick shape.  Really COOL!  I admit that I'm more of a Hammerhead,  But with this Contact zone,  I'm seriously considering a change of allegiance..=)

See my profile for specs.
My Contact Zone is drilled w/ the pin above my middle-finger and the c.g. in the center of the palm.  The surface out of box w/ some Black Magic to make it a little shinier. Came out w/ 1/4 oz. of finger weight, and 0 side weight.
The intial reason for me to drill this ball was that, I wanted a ball that went about 35 ft. and made a move and quit, this roll-out shot works sweet at a local center, and on a tough condition i was practicing on.  I hoped that the proactive would calm the violence of the snap, boy, I was wrong.  This ball goes about 40 ft. revs up, makes a violent turn left, which is what i was looking for, except the ball never stopped.  It just kept on hooking.  I couldn't control the dang thing.  But if it did hit the pocket there would be nothing standing, except an occassional 9 pin.  While this reaction was cool, it wasn't what i desired, so I took the ball back to the press, and added a weight hole on my pap, which made the ball have a 1/2 oz. of side weight.
I took the ball back out to lanes, and the first part of the reaction was the same, then when it made the turn it now stood up and quit hooking.  Exactly the motion I was looking for.  So I took it to the house that the roll out shot kills and shot back to back 260's and put the ball away, b/c it was too easy.  Overall, I truly believe this is the best "B" ball I have owned that wasn't a TE ball.  It seems to be very versitale and should be liked by all players.  However, it seems this ball is a love-hate ball.  Either you love it or you hate there is no middle ground, so good luck and good kegeling to all. 9/10.

The other week,  I decided to put my contact zone in a lusterkleen machine, (just for the heck of it)  I let it run for 5 minutes. Now,  I'm glad I did.  The lanes I play on is always light-medium oil. It gets worse as you go on.  I stand on the 30th(righty) and throw it between 15 and 20. Guess what?  The old ball is back!!  I was ready to keep the ball in storage just a few weeks ago but now,  it's hooking a lot.  Oh yeah,  the length is still there,  It goes straight then TURNS big time.  I scored a 230-280-263 that day.  Too bad Brunswick is deciding to stop production of this ball citing slow sales.  My advise to all bowlers,  if you see this ball in your pro-shop,  buy it,  beacuse next time if you decided to have one, it'll have to be special ordered and will cost you around $300 to get it.  Believe me , I know.  A friend of mine tried to get a Danger Zone Red Alert and that's the price he coughed up to get one.

I LOVED THIS BALL!!   I GOT IT TWO YEARS AGO AT A PRO-AM AND IVE BEEN THROWING IT SENCE.  I WAS AMAZED HOW MUCH I COULD DO WITH THIS BALL.  IT HOOKED WHEN I NEEDED IT TO AND I WAS ABLE TO PLAY A NUMBER OF LINES.  NOW THIS BALL HAS LOST SOME OF ITS HOOK.  IT STILL IS ABLE TO SNAP LIKE A NEW BALL AND HITS HARD.  I WAS IMPRESSED BY THIS BALL IN THE BEGINING BUT NOW IT HAS JUST LOST A LOT OF ITS HOOKING POTENTIAL.

Have your contact zone resurfaced,  cranker.  That'll do the trick.  My contact zone got back it's hooking ability the moment i got the surface done.  But there is no loss of hitting power.  It's still one of the best balls around,  too bad Brunswick decided to stop production of the ball.  (Probably to jack up the price.)  That's the only problem I have with Brunswick.  I wish they'll stop this practice soon,  otherwise a lot of bolwers will surely turn to other companies and there's a lot of 'em out there.

GOOD BALL MOIN! The ball gets further down the lane than most of my other Proactive stuff, but snaps out of this world!!!! Bought the ball off of a used rack, the ball had 0 games on it b/c the man never came to pick it up! $15.00 =)I plugged the thumb and redrilled it to fit my hand and off i went to the lanes.  The Ball didnt react very well or sometimes at all the first couple games that i had it.  Around the third or fourth game I finally started to wear a track into the ball and was seeing a big difference in the way the ball moved.  The ball would start out very smooth through the first half of the lane, flare out about 40-45ft., and ZOOOOOOOM across the lane! I then moved to a different pair of lanes with a fresh shot out. Same Result!  Later that night i went to bowl my doubles league.  THE BALL WAS AN ANIMAL!! 279-300-267=849 it was unbelieveable! My personal high!  These balls are still on ebay. If you can find one pick it up!

This is the second ball I got upon my return to the game.  I stacked the pin 2' shifted about 2'....and I love it.  It has a nice even roll not real skid-flippy and hits a ton.

I did polish it and was unimpressed by the change.  It went too long and didn't make it quite back, hit light, but it made for some good mixers.

All-in-all, good ball it's gets down the lane and rolls strong, it can be used on all kinds of conditions.

I bought this ball off of Ebay in December brand new. I got it drilled to be aggressive. my first series it went a little too long, but snapped very hard. My roll wasn't very controlled...a little too much skid action. I found myself second guessing my speed and slowing down. My second time bowling w/it, it rolled beautifully and murdered the pocket at my normal bowling speed. I'm speaking from a lefty's perspective and I love it.
