Coverstock: Activator Plus
Color: Navy/Silver Pearl
Hardness: 76-78
Factory Finish: 500 Siaair Micro Pad; Rough Buff Finish
- A few tiny pit holes in the cover stock of the ball are normal
Weight Block: (14-16#) High RG Performance
RG max: 2.531
RG min: 2.481
RG diff: 0.050
Average RG: 3.7 of 10
Hook Potential: 155 (Scale 10-175)
Length: 105 (Scale 25-235)
Typical Breakpoint Shape: 75 Angular (Scale Smooth Arc 10-Angular 100)
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Oily
Description: ACTIVATOR PLUS COVERSTOCK: Activator Plus is a more aggressive version of the original Activator coverstock formulation and features enhanced durability and performance longevity. The pearlized version of Activator Plus coverstock used on the Massive Damage is factory-finished with rough buff compound to create more traction in the oil, increasing the ball’s mid-lane and back-end hooking action, while still being clean through the front part of the lane. The Massive Damage uses a larger pearl additive that creates more vivid colors and provides added length and backend reaction.
CORE: The Massive Damage features a new Low RG Performance core that revs quickly providing mid-lane control with a strong predictable back-end motion.
BALL MOTION: With its Rough Buff finish, the Massive Damage will rev quickly in the mid-lane with a strong continuous back-end reaction that matches up on medium oil lane conditions for a wide range of bowling styles.
REACTION SETUP: The Massive Damage can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for symmetric bowling balls.
LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING: At Brunswick, the unique core shape of each individual ball is used for weights from 14 to 16 pounds. This approach to lightweight ball engineering provides bowlers with consistent ball reaction characteristics across this weight range. At 12 and 13 pounds, Brunswick uses a generic core shape with a RG-differential that is close enough to the 14 to 16 pound shape so the same drilling instructions can be used.

The one word to describe the Massive Damage is control.  The smooth overall motion of this ball is a similar reaction to the Revolver line, and the Activator Plus coverstock is controllable.  This ball revs up in the midlane earlier than the Damage because of the lower RG core.  This ball works good on fresh shots where you need to get the ball into a roll instead of a skid / snap reaction or where the lanes are playing over / under.  It would be a good benchmark ball for sport or house lane conditions with medium oil.  When it reaches the friction, it doesn't stop and continues through the pins. I have yet had a over-reaction with this ball on multiple lane conditions.

        LIKES

This ball is a perfect hybrid of the Anaconda and Damage, taking the positives from both balls.  The Massive Damage is clean through the fronts like the Damage, handles the mid lane very well like the  Anaconda, and has a Damage like pop in the back end. A perfect ball for getting a read on what lane condition is out there.

        DISLIKES

When the fronts start to go away, the Massive Damage tends to lose down lane reaction, but since it is cleaner through the front, an improvement on the Anaconda, but not as clean as the Damage.  Conversely, when there isn't much back end, the Massive Damage doesn't handle this as well as the Anaconda.

        OVERALL

This ball is a perfect fit for anyone who likes what the Anaconda and Damage gave their arsenal, and is the perfect ball to fit right in between them for a 3 ball line up.  In addition, anyone looking for a benchmark ball, should definitely pick one of these up, you won't be disappointed.

I got this ball in a swap for an Anaconda I had.  I just had the guy move the fingers down a 1/4" to match my layout.  I am not sure of the angles on this one..  but the Pin  is at 2 o'clock.. maybe 1 1/2 from ring, CG is stacked under pin, kicked out, and around the middle of my palm, just way out to the right.

Likes:  Ball gets easy length, and is fairly angular for me.  I picked this ball up because I needed a more skid flippy ball.  I have the original damage, pin above and between fingers,   It seemed to roll up to soon, Left 10's when playing inside.

The Massive definately snaaps a little harder.  It seems to crush the pocket well with a laydown of around 13, out to 7.  If you pocket it, it blows the 10's out.

Dislikes:   On this shot, if you get out to 5 the ball will snap to the head pin, so for me it's not a forgiving ball if the miss is right, if you tug a little it does seem to stay in the oil ok.  If you slide it inside of 15, it will hold, but it will leave a 10 in a heart beat.

These lanes break down quick, so I will probably use this ball as the benchmark for the night.  I have an alpha max, that works well as long as I keep it polished, so hopefully I can just use massive danamage and have a consistent read.
