Drilled my Gold Kingpin SE 45x5x45 (pin up) as I wanted a top shelf ball to really open up the lane for long oil.  I loved the original Kingpin, liked the Max for staying in play on tough fresh patterns and hated the Rule, so I wasn't really sure what to expect about the Pearl introduction in the series.
My first experience with this ball was on 48' Great Wall of China.  It is a really slick, overly long house pattern which really has no business being dressed on anything but wood if you expect to score.  I surprisingly liked what I saw on this pattern with the ball holding line well to the pocket, finishing strong on the back end and just having to be careful about not getting it right early so as not to see the ball jump off the dry.
Taking this ball out on 45' Route 66 in my Challenge league was quite the experience.  In box finish, even in games 3-4 it was too long/flippy for my eye, so a quick trip to the spinner with a 3k pad helped me smooth out my shapes.  Even with the additional sanding the Kingpin SE has a lot of pop on the back end and remains my most angular ball.  The surface allowed me to cheat a little further left of most of my other equipment and get the ball back from a little further right than anything other than the Conspiracy Solid.
I have since brought this ball out to tournament play on house conditions and medium patterns to some moderate success.  I had an amazing look a couple weeks ago on 47' Statue of Liberty throwing the front 10 and have made this a gap ball in my arsenal which makes the tournament bag on long oil.
Compared to other balls in my bag, the Kingpin Gold splits the difference between my 2 favorite angular asyms:  Conspiracy Solid and Vintage Vapor Zone.  The Kingpin Gold is a strong ball with an extremely strong response to friction and on longer oil is my most angular bowling ball.  If you still see one hanging around your local pro shop and are looking for some help to make the corner when playing the middle part of the lane, I recommend this ball
