Brunswick Igniter Pearl
The Brunswick Igniter bowling balls follow in the footsteps of the Edge series of bowling balls featuring a low RG symmetric weight block. The Igniter Pearl combines the Brink Symmetric core with the Relativity Pearl 3.0 Reactive coverstock. The coverstock on this ball helps to get the ball down the lane even when the lane is breaking down.

I love the Igniter Solid and so it’s no surprise I love the Igniter Pearl. Where the Melee Jab Blood Red provides a little mor backend and recovery, the Igniter Solid is a bit tamer on the backend. However, just like the Igniter Solid, this ball isn’t going to get you in trouble. It’s great for managing the pocket, getting through the fronts cleanly, and still saving up a lot of energy on the backend to get through the pins. I’d recommend if the Melee Jab is too angular or too strong for you, consider throwing the Igniter Pearl.

This is a great ball for those lighter oil patterns. I took the shine off mine and put it at a finish of 3000 with a TruCut pad. When I threw it out of the box, it went too long for me. Once I took the stock finish off this ball it reacted a couple feet earlier. I ran about 3 sets of 700 with this ball after adjusting the surface. We have some high friction outsides so the surface helped blend out the over/under reaction I was seeing as well. Also I was able to move left as the lanes opened up and this ball never gave up.

The first additions to the line-up for Brunswick replace the Edge nameplate that has been so popular the past few years, the new balls are called Igniter. Sticking with tradition, this was last summers dual-launch with the Igniter Solid and the Igniter Pearl, and both balls utilize the same core, Brink Symmetric, used in the Jagged Edge in addition to an enhanced version of the successful Relativity coverstock, Relativity Solid 3.0. The Igniter Solid and Igniter Pearl look fantastic, are an unbelievable value, and offer incredible performance.
With it’s out of box surface of 500/1000 then finished with Crown Factory Compound, and core/cover combination, paired with my all purpose layout of 55x4x25, the Igniter Pearl is a great option for a symmetric benchmark ball and a great ‘step down’ once the lane starts to transition. The Igniter Pearl provides a predictable motion that for me was a lot stronger than I was expecting ...able to clear the heads with a minimum read in the mid lane and still have a snap motion down lane as it powers though the pins. This is not my best option to begin league with but it’s an easy go-to once the lanes start to dry up and my solids (asymmetric or symmetric) are reading the fronts and mids too soon. I’m able to get deep and play a tight line or move deeper inside and send it to the dry without much worry of overreacting once the Igniter Pearl gets there, or hitting like a dud once it reaches the pins.
Dare I say this is a pretty ball? The Brunswick Igniter Solid really is something nice to roll and to look at with it’s Teal / White Pearl cover especially as it’s driving through those white pins.
Rated by Brunswick Bowling in the Advanced / Flip category with a rating of 69, I found the Igniter Pearl to be far stronger than what I was expecting from it especially for it’s mid level price, making it one of the best performance value per dollar in the last year.
