Intense Inferno
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Technology – Stuck to the Lane
The Inferno line has been a tremendous success for Brunswick. Defined by Ultra-Low RG Core Systems and Activator coverstock technology, the Inferno line is known for its clean front-ends and a quick revving core that helps create mid-lane recovery and a hard arcing back-end reaction.

To expand the Inferno line, Brunswick’s engineers set out to create a new Inferno that delays its hooking action further down the lane while retaining the recovery and hard arcing back-end reaction the Inferno line is known for.

That ball is the
Intense Inferno
featuring
Activator + coverstock.

Activator+ is a new version of Activator coverstock technology that is a better match-up for the medium RG core system designed to delay the Intense Inferno’s hooking action. More aggressive in the mid-lane and back-ends, Activator + has a “Stuck to the Lane” quality that improves mid-lane recovery and the ability to handle carry down when compared to any coverstock Brunswick has used on a medium RG ball.

The Intense Inferno uses a new medium RG, medium differential Inferno family core that complements the Activator+ coverstocks increased traction creating the most angular Inferno to date.

Smoothly blended lane conditions will especially showcase the mid-lane traction qualities of Activator+. Broken down lane conditions will find the Intense Inferno’s medium RG core providing length and the Activator+ coverstock cutting through carry down. The Intense Inferno’s “Stuck to the Lane” quality will help improve pin carry on lane conditions that cause other balls to lose traction and hit.

Reaction Characteristics
Out of the Box: With its High Gloss Polish finish the Intense Inferno will match up well on medium-dry to medium-oily lane conditions.
When dulled: The Intense Inferno hooking action will increase and its arc will become more even, creating a better match-up for oily lane conditions and help blend the over/under reactions seen on wet/dry lane conditions.

I just had this ball drilled, and have bowled on two different lane conditions.  The first set of lanes had had one shift of league bowled on fresh lanes, so there was a little carry down.  The ball went fairly long and broke hard for a 256 game.  The second pair of lanes I bowled on were fresh lanes that had not been bowled on.  The ball skidded too far before it broke.  It didn't break till just before it hit the head pin.  If there's alot of oil, this isn't the ball.  Once the lanes start to break down though, this ball kicks some serious butt.

Juz pure power...it goes out wide enough for me and it snaps back pretty strongly... juz the perfect ball for mid-oil lanes...bought the ball last nite... first game bowled a 185... 2nd a 224... with a 5-5 line... today bowled a 196average bowling 15-12... sorta happy since it's only the first few days of usage and it's beginning to prove it's worthiness.... rock on..!!!

well guys... i love the color but its an unpredictable ball. if you have the right oil pattern it works well..ok hitting power bit leaves alot of corner pins. i would not spend my money on this ball. the best inferno is the original**** you are better off getting 2 balls and drilling them differently then buying the intense.

Well i bowl with mostly storm but i figured id try somthing new and different.I drilled the intense basically label. First shot with it didnt grab what so ever so i made the move right and tried plkaying the 6 board staight up about 14-14.5mph with medium revs.Shot seven in a row and couldnt miss the pocket. I cant belive im saying this but i think i like brunswick and might try an oringinal inferno.

Pin Placement: Under Ring Finger
Lane Condition:  Dry Gutters/ Oily Middle

A great ball by brunswick!! Its controllable and energy retaining as well as it shreads the rack. I threw it in its original form (polished) and it would skid/snap and blow the rack, however when the lanes dry up a bit the ball will read the dry to quick, smash the pocket and leave stone 7 and 10 pins. I'm going to alter the surface abit to see what results I get. Hopefully it'll result in a 300

Ball: brunwick Intense Inferno
Shot: 36 ft. oil buffed to 40.
Drilling: Label Leverage

This ball is the best ball ever!
First game out of the box-290. Left a 10 pin in 1st frame..
Second game-246 opened in tenth should have had a 279.
Third game-279 left tenpin in the 6th.

If the ball was sung to wide it came back..if i tugged it left it held. This ball has the best hold i have ever seen..A must buy!
32 stikes out of 36 frames....nuff said..

The Intense is the first Brunswick ball i've bought, I decided brunswick because I heard good stuff and a lot of high games thrown with brunswick. All brunswick balls truck and keep going driving threw the pocket launching the pins. I got it for oil because i had a mid and dry lane ball, I got it drilled up Mildly, not monster and not weak just right. I like Storm, but wanted a change to get out there and try other balls and their reaction and see the companies style.

I throw my ball at a medium to fast speed, with a good amount of revs.

On a fresh house pattern oiled medium around 40-45 ft. I stand around board 30 and throw 10 board to 5 then back to the pocket. I start there and at the third game I've moved about 3 boards. To me and the way this was drilled the ball was better for medium oil, but light oil the ball is too strong but I'm able to swing it in light oil. I throw it every monday on synthetic lanes that are flooded, the ball seems to slide so long and not grab as stong as i wanted it too, it does this when theres a lot of carry down also. Just excessively too long of a ball reaction on heavy oil.

On Medium oil the ball checks up strong on the tail of the lane and drives threw the pocket blowing the pins out. I have rarely seen any corner pins nor solid taps when the ball hits the pocket solid, it blows them away.

When i strike in the alley, it sounds like the loudest strike from any others, it blows the pins away, it just rumbles the pins. I'm very satisfied on how hard it hits, the ball is good all around just watch the oil pattern and heavy oil. Good luck, and Everyone Should Have Something Intense!

After a couple months of using this ball, I have bowled my first 300 with it. I did this in tournament and this ball is amazing.

This ball is great. I bought it and had it drilled 2L on the Brunswick drilling chart. The first game I bowled with it I shot a 209. That was a great first impression. Today, I shot a new high with this ball, a 266 which consisted of 9 strikes in a row then an 8 and a 1 because it was a split. This ball has so much power that it blows all the pins away. This was my first Brunswick ball ever and I can now say I want to change my arsenal to Brunswick. This ball works best for me on medium to medium heavy oil. Anything lighter and it goes past the head pin. I recommend this ball for everyone, it is one of the best ball if not the best I have ever thrown. The only bad thing for me is the belt marks show up really nasty on this ball so by the end of the day it looks like the ball has never been cleaned. Oh, well that doesn't bother me. I just take it home and clean it. I would give this ball a perfect 10. Great job Brunswick.

15 pounds
Pin drilled through the ring finger

Ball is amazing!!!

Ball reads the lanes extremely well and hits the pocket like a ton of bricks.  Great ball for when the lanes are midway broken down, can play numerous lines.  Great ball, and picked it up at an extremely reasonable price.  So happy with this ball.

Thanks,
Jeff

this is a great ball. but just warning u this ball has the most angular hook ive ever seen and it tends to leave a lot of ten pins. later.

ps. if its leaving a lot of tens, than just move a couple boards right and throw it a little faster over your mark. thats what i did. later

Me-
Speed: about 16 at the pin deck
Rev Rate: medium/high to high. (you could call me a cranker)
PAP:5 1/4 inches over, 1/4 inches up

Ball-
15 pounds
3 ounces of top weight
3-4 inch pin
Drilled with the pin above ring finger. (about 4 3/4 inches from my PAP)
Out of box surface

Lanes-
I've thrown this ball on a couple different conditions, so I'll go through each.

THS- On a THS/wall shot, this ball is very nice to get down the lane with. If you play tight, and keep it in the oil, the ball is very smooth, and does not have a lot of hook. When you swing farther out into the dry, the ball is pretty strong, but not hard to control. I would not say it is skid/snap, more very hard arc. Its a great ball to help get through the heads, but if you have flying backends, put it away because it will get hard to control.

Sport Shot- In oil, this ball is smooth. Its not the best ball for playing much more then medium oil with, but if you need a straighter line to the pocket with heavier oil, this ball is very smooth. When I used this ball on a sport shot, it was medium/heavy oil. (probably at least 40-50 units) No dry outside. I played straight up 5 with the ball. It was not much hook, but got enough roll to still carry well.

Broken Down Shots- On a broken down house shot, this ball is not all that great. It tends to be very over/under. It gets through broken down heads very well, but since it is so jumpy off the dry, it gets tough to control sometimes.

Well, thanks for reading my review. If you have any suggestions to make my reviews better, feel free to PM me with them.
