The Brunswick Jagged Edge bowling balls continue the Edge series of bowling balls featuring a low RG symmetric weight block. The Jagged Edge Hybrid combines the Brink Symmetric core with the Relativity 2.0 Hybrid coverstock. This ball offers down-lane recovery when used on medium oil conditions. The 500 then 1000 grit finish is polished with Brunswick's Crown Factory Compound to allow for length and a powerful backend motion. The Brunswick Jagged Edge Hybrid is ideal for handling transitions when you start to notice the lanes breaking down.

COMMENTS

First of all, let me say this off the back. Generally, I am not a fan of hybrid covers. They never hook in the right spot for me. I will say this about the Jagged Edge Hybrid. It has become a quick go-to ball in my bag. I tweaked the cover by hitting it with a 3000K pad (by hand just to break the factory cover) and this ball is amazing for me. I have had no problems getting through the heads. And when the ball gets to the spot it pops. The ball is really angular for a symmetrical ball. I especially like it when the lanes start transitioning because it fights through the mess and still gives a very consistent motion.

COMMENTS

The Jagged Edge Hybrid is a very nice ball to complement the Jagged Edge Solid.  The Hybrid picks up the midlane about a foot sooner than the solid and has a more angular backend motion for tighter lane conditions.  The Jagged Edge Hybrid is a great 1-2 combo to have with the Jagged Edge Solid

Bowler's Style:  Tweener            Conditions: THS 39'

Axis Tilt: 2   Axis Rotation: 74   Revs:400   Speed: 17

PAP: 5" over and 31/32" up.   Layout:  Neutral   Ball Surface:  Out of Box

Comments:
Wow is all I can say about this ball.    I can play anywhere from straight up outside, to hooking the whole lane.   The ball gets through the heads very easy.   Off the spot the ball hits hard.   Hardly any deflection for me.   Ball exits the deck between the 8 and 9 pin.  No loss of hitting power.   Hits harder then anything I have right now.   I am quickly becoming a fan of Hybrids.   It started with the Cutting Edge Hybrid and continues with this ball.   This is ball is an absolute beast and a winner for Brunswick.

The opinions stated above are mine and mine alone.  Brunswick had or has no baring on them.

Brunswick #1 in Bowling.

Drilled my Jagged Edge Hybrid 45x4.75x75 (pin below bridge) with the intent of having an option to keep my angles a bit straighter on medium-dry lanes to replace my Mag035 Pearl.  My expectations were not that high as I typically have not been a fan of Brunswick's hybrids as most have been either too strong or too flippy (the Method and Cutting Edge being the first 2 I have really liked), but know that there is a hole in my bag that I hoped this ball could fill.
My reaction with this ball has been nothing short of incredible as I get the length I need through the front without the sensitivity to wet/dry that that I fear from bowling balls at a lower price point.  The Jagged Edge Hybrid gives me an average amount of length with an average back end that is easy to control.
Our house shot was a little slick for this ball, but I was able to control the pocket and stay straight in the track.  Not the ideal pattern (too oily), but I liked the shape I got off the friction but needed more ball if I wanted to carry on shots missed inside of target.

We bowled last week on the National's doubles/singles pattern and I got to see what the Jagged Edge Hybrid can do.  First game was 246 and I am usually a bum on fresh medium sport patterns.  Compared to everybody else at the sweeper I consistently had one of the best looks to the pocket, didn't have to make big moves until game 4 and mixed the pins fairly well.

The best look I have yet was at a tournament this past weekend on the Women's US Open Pattern on a high friction surface.  The shot played a little drier than I had expected and really had some movement on the back end.  I had 794 games 3-5 and once again was able to keep my angles smooth without having to make big moves.  As the day went on I was able to keep tinkering with my speed and roll to shape the ball until it got so dry that I had to use my Alley Cat to stay in the part of the lane in which I wanted to play.

Compared to other balls in my bag the Jagged Edge Hybrid splits the difference between my Magnitude 035 Solid and Pearl.  It is a little cleaner than my Cutting Edge Hybrid, yet tractions a bit more than my Cutting Edge Solid.  The Jagged Edge Hybrid is considerably cleaner than the Solid (which is very early) and so far has been a good step down from my Hero.

I recommend the Jagged Edge Hybrid to anybody looking for all purpose benchmark ball reaction on medium to dry lanes.  This is a ball that will find play on a wide variety of patterns but will be a standout on higher friction surfaces.  I really like this ball and expect to see a lot of happy customers with this ball.

The Jagged Edge Hybrid is definitely a ball that should be in the bag for all serious bowlers.  This ball really rolls nicely down the lane, easy through the fronts and for a symmetrical core it shapes beautifully off the spot to give you a controllable skid-flip reaction.

Mine is drilled pin over ring finger with out of box surface.  Used for the first time on a house pattern with medium volume and had no wet/dry reaction and no over hook if I missed right.  The ball really helped to blend out the pattern characteristics.  Looking forward to trying it on more challenging conditions.  Also I believe this ball will look good when the fronts start to go away.

At this price point, the ball is a great value for both league and tournament bowlers.  Looks great as well!  Get one and you'll be pleasantly satisfied.

The Jagged Edge Hybrid is a great compliment to the Jagged Edge Solid. Brunswick does such a great job of creating balls that are great pairs or partners in their line. When the Jagged Edge Solid starts hooking too early because the pattern has broken down, the hybrid is a great companion to give you the extra length you need without feeling as if you need to change lines too much.

As with any ball, it’s important to remember that cover determines about 70% of the ball’s reaction. You need a hybrid in your bag if you are bowling on sport patterns or in a center where you need to get the ball through the heads easier. This ball is a great one to have.

COMMENTS

Likes: predictablilty and quick response time

Dislikes: none

The Jagged Edge Hybrid is a cleaner more angular compliment to the new Jagged Edge Solid.  I drilled this ball with the purpose of replacing my Cutting Edge Solid.  This one is just a tad more angular and a little quicker than the Cutting Edge I was trying to replace.  This one fits in between the Cutting Edge Pearl and the new Jagged Edge Solid for me.  This ball is great for controlling conditions that are drying out or playing on top of the friction on a fresh house condition.  My favorite characteristic of this ball is its response time.  It is quick off of the friction but some how still predictable.  I can see this one being a mainstay in the bag for slower speed due to the versatility and recovery this ball has.  This one never surprises you at the breakpoint and has great pin carry.  Check out the Jagged Edge Hybrid if you are looking for a predictable ball with great angularity off of friction.
