Scorchin' Inferno
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
The Scorchin’ InfernoTM is an upgrade of the popular Ultimate Infernoâ„¢.  The two color solid, sanded reactive coverstock combination has been one of the most popular in the industry.  The Scorchin’ Inferno uses this configuration with an upgraded version of Activator® coverstock called ActivatorMAX.

ActivatorMAX is the latest development in Activator coverstock technology.  ActivatorMAX preserves the clean reaction through the heads that Inferno balls are known for while increasing mid-lane and back-end hooking action in heavier volumes of oil.

Extensive on-lane testing places the best RG match-up for ActivatorMAX at a slightly higher value than that used for the Ultimate Inferno.  For maximum forgiveness and versatility the Scorchin’ uses a higher Average-RG, and lower differential version of the Ultimate Inferno core.

When compared to the Ultimate Inferno, the Scorchin’ Inferno has the unique Activator clean reaction through the heads with increased mid-lane recovery, break-point angularity, a higher hook potential and improved traction in heavy carrydown.  The Scorchin’ Inferno is a heavy oil ball designed for bowlers who prefer Reactive over Particle coverstocks.

Since 2003, Brunswick’s line of Activator Coverstocks has established a reputation for excellence in ball reaction, durability and longevity of ball reaction.   Activator Coverstocks offer a wide range of hook potentials and arc characteristics that enable bowlers to match-up to all but the driest of lane conditions.
Activator– Clean reaction through the heads combined with mid-lane recovery and a powerful back-end reaction.
Activator®Particle– More traction in the oil.  Smoother reaction off the dry.
Activator®Plus– Amazing recovery and traction with the length of a pearlized ball.
Activator®Advance– More length with increased angularity.
NEW- ActivatorMAX– Increased traction in the mid-lane and back-ends.  The highest hook potential Activator. – NEW

Utility
•Out of the box:The Scorchin’ Inferno is an ideal heavy oil ball for players wanting to use a Reactive coverstock.
•When shined:Using Brunswick’s Factory Finish Rough Buff the total hooking action of the Scorchin’ Inferno can be reduced and the arc made more skid/snap.  Using Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish the total hooking action will be further reduced and the arc made even more skid/snap.

Reaction Setup
The Scorchin’ Inferno can be drilled using the standard drilling techniques developed for two-piece balls, see the included drilling instructions for reaction characteristics and layout details.  The Scorchin’ Inferno is finished with a dull 600-grit surface which increases its hooking action in the oil.  Dull surface finishes can sometimes hook too early resulting in reduced backend reaction and hitting power.  To increase length, polish the surface with Brunswick’s Factory Finish Rough Buff.  To increase length and create and even more skid/snap reaction use Brunswick’s Factory Finish High Gloss Polish.

What a great ball! It's drilled under my ring finger and the CG is straight down with 1.5 pin. It got great roll and it hit very hard. Almost got a couple 300s on this ball but there always 1 spare that would screw it up. The ball has 1000 grit so I can use it the League with broken or very light oil pattern. Great Complement for the polish Original Inferno.

Well, after using this ball in a few different drillings / surfaces, I have come to the following conclusions:

1.) The ball will stand up very quick once friction is found
2.) The ball will stand up gradually in lighter oil and slowly fizzle
3.) THe ball is more usable with less surface

It provides a good fit between the Fury and Total Inferno (all at box finish - the SI could go up to 1000 and be even better). You could live without it though. The ball prefers outside angles, TONS of head oil, and TONS of ball speed.

Tight inside lines work, where you need to ball to start rolling sooner than the Fury.  Can't wait to put this against the Fury on the Shark pattern.

I think the ball also combats wet/dry lanes pretty well at 2000 abralon.  Very rolly and even.

A lot of people will be unhappy with this ball since it is very condition specific and not as versitle as the Ultimate Inferno it replaces.

In short, if you're looking for new league weapon, buy the Fury.  If you're looking for a tourney piece for a spcific condition, this may fit the bill.

Bought this ball about 8 months ago. I have my schorchin drilled stacked leverage pin next too my ring finger cg kicked out slightly. This ball has a 2 inch pin not sure on top weight. This ball has a really nice arc and its a great ball for any condition from med-med heavy as long as there is enough head oil. For a ball that is drilled to rool early its has a very nice backend and hits very hard. The ball surface is at 500 aberlon finish. I have used this ball on a 38ft house shot 40 foot house shot and the wp pattern in an experence it matched up well to most of the conditions that i have bowled on except dryer lanes. I like this ball the only dislike i have is it sometimes labors in the back but that has only happend on a cupple shots

The Brunswick Scorchin' Inferno is an all around great bowling ball. I don't get why some people are saying their scorchin' soaks up all this oil causing it to lose it's reaction. I have had my scorchin' for two years and it still performs like the very first day I used it. Good ball for medium to heavy oil.

my arsenal: total inferno, scorchin inferno, smokin inferno, morich seek and destroy, bvp wizard, hammer black widow, and for my spare ball a dr. jekyll

Alright, ive only had this ball for a few weeks, but i can tell this ball is great. Pin a little to the right and a little up of the ring finger. First day i threw it, i could send it out to the 1-3 board, and it would come back. This ball is good on mediumish conditions for me, and i would never give this ball up. And the colors are soo sick, lol. i would give this ball a 9 out of 10.

Thanks for reading
