The Brunswick Uppercut uses the same successful core and base coverstock as the Melee Jab balls. The updated version of the Savvy Hook 3.0 spotlights Brunswick's textured pearl to offer more traction for added mid-lane reaction and continuation. This Ball Keeps Me Out of Trouble

I am a huge fan of the Melee Jab and so I was very excited to drill this ball and see what it could do. What I like about this ball is how it keeps me out of trouble. This ball isn’t going to overreact or jump off the spot. It’s a very predictable, benchmark-type ball, that rolls very cleanly through the mid-lane and continues off of the spot. There have been a few times where I have bowled on conditions that were very wet-dry or over-under, and this ball kept me out of trouble. This ball helps me manage the pocket well and when the conditions match, this ball is incredible. It’s become my new benchmark ball.

COMMENTS

Likes: The Brunswick Uppercut uses the same core & similar cover stock as the Melee Jab Se and I am a huge fan of that ball so I was excited to see what this would do. I was not disappointed. Using a "textured" pearl cover the ball picks up much sooner than the Jab and has an overall smoother, rounder shape but still has that great finish through the pins. This is probably the biggest symmetric pearl I've thrown. When the lane breaks down you jump to the Melee Jab SE. Great striking combo.

COMMENTS

The Uppercut will definitely knock down the pins.  Ball reminds me of the Melee Jab but with a earlier midlane roll and more continuation on the backend.  If you love the Melee Jab and need a 1-2 punch combo, the Uppercut is the way to go

I have to admit it took a little time for me to learn the behavior of the Uppercut but the waiting was worth it.  This ball can destroy the pins and is so controllable through the fronts that there's no fear of early read and burning up before reaching the pins.

The combination of the characteristics brought from the Melee Jab SE combined with the textured pearl are a great fit.  Originally when laid out (pin above ring finger) and from what I read about the ball I expected a more aggressive piece and once I learned to not overthrow it and just let it read the lane it performed beautifully.

I have used this ball on Stonestreet and on PBA Mark Roth and the match up on both has been effortless.  If I'm using a smoother midlane ball to start a session and find it struggling to retain energy, this is the next option.  Not much movement with my feet, but later motion and sharper shape gets the job done well.

Another high performing piece from the number one name in bowling!

Uppercut

This Uppercut is a pearl reactive that combines the Savvy Hook cover with Melee Jab core.  This combination gives you unbelievable consistency on any medium oil pattern.  I drilled this ball 50 x 4 x 30.  This ball gets through the front part of the lane with ease, gives you great mid lane reaction with strong continuous motion on the back end.  I don’t recommend using this on heavy oil or real dry lanes, but anything in between those this ball is incredible and will give you the look and pin action you’re looking for.  The Uppercut lets you open up a lane, has great forgiveness giving the player a larger area to work with, and the hitting power of a truck.  This ball is awesome!

Brunswick has a sure winner here using the Melee Jab core with an updated savvy hook 3.0 textured pearl cover. Drilled mine 90 x 1 1/2 x 40 for shorter sport/challenge conditions with more volume. Have been able to move right playing up the 2-3 board with this drilling, very smooth through the front and picks up at the end of the pattern with strong continuation through the pins. On house shots I can move left with a 3 - 4 board swing playing around the 10 board as it still has smooth down lane reaction with predicable hook. Winner in my Bag! 8)

I recently drilled the Uppercut by Brunswick and after the knocking some of the box finish off of it, the ball quickly becoming one of my favorites.  Drilled it just like my Melee Jab 45x4.5x35.  It picks up earlier than the Jab and still has the backend punch you’d expect ( Pun intended).  Personally, I think the Uppercut and Melee Jab make an awesome one two punch and complement each other very well ( pun not intended).

Likes: I don't have a lot of games on my Uppercut, but have been impressed on the versatility of it.  I can honestly say that the Uppercut is a great benchmark ball and will be easy to keep in play on medium to heavier oil patterns.  The smooth, non flipping reaction keeps me out of trouble not needing to give away the pocket.

The Uppercut has the Melee Jab core which for me was a very controllable ball. The Uppercut for allows me to keep the ball in front me when the lanes are broken down. Threw on THS and rolled out so I used a 2000 pad to knock compound off and the ball came alive. Good benchmark ball

Likes: Strong, yet controllable down-lane motion. Its clean through the front part of the lane and slows down just enough in the mid-lane to keep control of the breakpoint, while still reserving energy for angularity in the backend and strong continuation through the pins. It's also a versatile piece, great for various conditions.

Likes: If you liked the Melee Jab, then this is a must-have. The Brunswick Uppercut uses the same core & similar cover stock as the Melee Jab Blood Red and I am an enormous fan of that ball so I was energized to see what this would do. I was not disappointed one bit. Using a slightly sanded pearl cover, the ball picks up sooner than the Jab and is overall smoother rounder shape, and finishes great through the pins. This is probably the biggest symmetric pearl I have ever thrown. When the lane breaks down, you should be able to go right to your Melee Jab and continue to strike!. Great striking combo with these balls!
