Description: Through the Brunswick Vintage line of bowling balls they have brought back yet another legend, the Danger Zone. To celebrate this iconic ball's 20 year anniversary Brunswick has combined the Vintage Lightbulb Low RG core with a newer coverstock, the PK 2016 (a modern version of the PowrKoil 18).  This combination brings the retro Danger Zone motion of skidding through the heads while saving axis rotation for the backend to bring that memorable Danger Zone reaction to modern lane conditions.

Why are there no posts. Every one should be pumped about this ball. Back in the day I used to have a ton of different Zones. Danger Zone, Red Alert, Command Zone, Command Zone Arc, and needless to say they all were great. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the Danger Zones and threw it down the lane last night and my god. If it didn't give me chills from the flashbacks of 15 years ago with the ball motion. Smooth through the front part of the lane and flipped over and went side ways to the pocket. Ok that was exaggeration, not really side ways but really angular and smashed the pocket. I continued to throw a 280 right off the drill press. Only leaving a stone 8 pin.

All I'm saying if you wanna get nostalgic on the lanes pick one of these up when they get released. You will not be disappointed.

COMMENTS

The Vintage Danger Zone is just like the hype about it was.  It rolls just like the orignal Danger Zone.  The ball is clean and very continuous through the midlane to the backend.  I laid mine to provide and little bit more length and more angular motion.  This ball to me is gonna be the game changer ball of the year.

Reaction:  It’s back and new and improved.  With its low RG light bulb core and new Solid PK Coverstock this is a must have ball if you liked the original version.
This ball is very clean through the front of the lanes with a continuous back end motion.  It does not quit when it goes through the pins.  It likes to split the 8-9 a lot.  For me this ball allows me to keep my angles straighter and in front of me.  Because of my ball speed, I average 18-19 mph, I had to hit the cover with a little bit of surface to get the reaction that I wanted.  I am currently using 1000 SIAR pad with no polish on it.  I will probably have to tweak this by either adding some polish to it or bringing it up to 2000.  The 1000 worked very well for me but it became too much after game 1 and I had to switch to something with some polish on it.  I have only thrown this on a 41 foot 10:1 house pattern so the oil goes away very quickly especially with surface on the ball.  The out of the box finish will work very well for bowlers with lower ball speed.
Overall:  If you are looking for a ball where you can keep your angles straighter to start this is the ball for you.  Once the lanes break down you will be able to move in and the ball will not quit.  This ball does not lack hitting power and has a very good continuous drive through the pins.

I absolutely love this ball!!!!!!!! For some reason I seem to have really good luck with these light bulb cores. For me this ball gets through the heads with ease and has a nice predictable break point. Its not overly aggressive but it's not weak either. It is a strong kind of smooth. Has good carry. I know it's only been a couple weeks with this ball but I have not left hardly any ten pins with it. This is the type of ball you pull out of your bag first.

COMMENTS
I was very excited about re-release of a Danger Zone, and so far I have been impressed with the ball. I was surprised with the overall strength of the ball as well as the response off of the friction. I drilled this ball with the intent of replacing an aging original Diva, and while this ball is a little stronger down lane that the orginal Diva. The motion downlane is still strong and continuous through the pins.

Brunswick Vintage Danger Zone
Bowler Stats:
Speed: 18-19mph
Rev Rate: 400-450mph
Axis Tilt: 7degrees
Axis Rotation: 30-60 degrees
Layout: 45 degrees by 4.5” by 70 degrees (hole 2” down VAL)
Intent: The original Danger Zone was a little bit before my time. Even without the nostalgia in my heart, I knew this was THE ball of the mid to late 1990s. With the updated core and cover, the DZ looked to be an all-purpose ball that would see a lot of play. I went with one of my favorite layouts with this one to help make for an extremely versatile piece.
On the lanes: The DZ is easily one of the most versatile balls I’ve thrown. Low RG cores and solid covers always tend to be very forgiving, more so on fresher patterns. With the DZ, it’s now my benchmark ball and tends to be my go-to on anything remotely around medium-ish length and medium-ish volume. The DZ is the strongest ball in the Vintage line with the LT-48 being a nice complement on the lower side. Just above the DZ I’d place the Melee Hook if you’re looking at the range of solid symmetricals. I have the DZ at about 4 boards stronger than the LT-48 and about 2 weaker than the Melee Hook. The past few weeks this ball has been destroying my house shot. I believe that the DZ is one of the most practical options for house shots. The versatility allows for following the shot throughout the night and will succeed at multiple angles provided that you aren’t on something extremely dry or flooded. Outside of house shots, for those bowlers looking for something on tougher patterns, it’s hard to not have a low RG solid in the bag.
Final Thoughts: The legend has returned and it’s only proper to relive history with this piece. The well-roundedness of the DZ makes for a great value since the ball has such as large window of capability.

I laid out my Vintage Danger Zone with pin up 60X5.25X40 layout.  For me this put the pin above the fingers in the grip line.  I am probably one of a few who bowled during the time of the Original Danger Zone that never owned one, so I can’t say it rolls exactly the same as the one did 20 years ago.  What I can tell you is this ball is very good.  It is a very nice compliment to my Melee Jab’s as a go to ball when my pin down Jab is too early or to flat in the back.  I left the box polish on mine which makes the ball a few feet cleaner and about 3 boards stronger off the spot than the pin down Jab.  It is a little earlier and again 3-4 stronger than my Vintage Gold Rhino Pro.  It is not my go to on fresh with me being a little speed dominant and using the box finish on the ball, but when the lanes start to transition after a few, this ball will see plenty of time during the second and third game of league and in the middle of the block for tournaments.

LANE CONDITION

Volume: 27ml

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

Likes:  The Danger Zone allows me to play straighter through the heads with a perfect read of the friction.  Not too angular, yet not lazy either.  So far carry has been very good.  Very few corner pins!  The polished black cover looks great on the lane.  This one reminds me of how the original reacted on patterns of 20 years ago.  LOVE IT!!

Dislikes:  Nothing to dislike.

The Danger Zone Vintage is an updated version of the original Danger Zone that was wildly successful in years past.  The last version was before my time but if it was half as good as this one it must have been pretty darn good.  This ball is the symmetrical piece most successful tournament bowlers are looking for.  It has good length, a smooth strong read down lane, and is very consistent. You can play inside with it, outside with it, and anywhere in between.  This ball has already proven to be a good option on our house shot and at a local sport shot tournament.  I use it a step down from my melee hook.  It hooks a few boards less and has a little better length.  If you missed out on it before don't miss out now.  Get in the Zone with the new Vintage Danger Zone and enjoy the versatility of the new Brunswick technology!

The latest addition to the vintage line is the Danger Zone. It has a very similar shaped light bulb core to the original, but the coverstock has been updated to handle today's slicker oils. The motion of the ball has a very similar shape to the original with a stronger arcing motion. I have used this ball for the 3rd game of league when they transition and I need a smoother reacting ball. I have also used this ball on a flatter sport patter which allowed me to play straighter angles with strong continuation. It would be a good ball when the Melee hook is too strong and you don't want to mover farther left to open up your angles. If the box surface is too clean or too angular, it would work well at 2000 or 4000. If you liked the original, you won't be disappointed with the new Vintage Danger Zone!

Here is a video of me throwing it:
