I never threw the original Inferno so I was excited to throw this new Vintage Inferno which is available on August 15, 2017.

This ball picks up a bit sooner in the mid-lane than the Magnitude 035 and the Classic Black Quantum but turns over nicely and keeps going.  The ball has the new Activator 2.0 coverstock and the Inferno Low RG core.  This ball is more angular than some of the other new releases this summer and that is what makes it so good in my opinion.

For me, I will do a lot with surface adjustments but really rely on the cover and core to define the shape.  With my game, I am looking for those subtle differences in ball motion to help me manage the pocket and carry.  I definitely like the shape of this ball and am looking forward to throwing it in league and competition soon!  This ball picks up just a bit sooner and when I start leaving corners and need to ball to shape up a bit earlier, this ball is it.

Likes: Strong mid-lane ball motion and ball picks up a few feet earlier than my Magnitude and Classic Black Quantum.

Inferno

This was easily one of the greatest bowling balls in Brunswick’s history, and now the release of the Vintage Inferno is even better.  With the new Activator 2.0 coverstock combined with the low rg core provides the ball motion you’re used to seeing with this ball years ago on today’s lane conditions.  I drilled my Inferno 65 x 4.25 x 25; putting the pin above the fingers while making the response to friction a little quicker.  I used this ball on both house and sport shots.  On a house shot, I couldn’t believe how much room I had and was able to hit the pocket with incredible hitting power.  Most noticeability about this ball was its clean through the front, reads the pattern incredibly well, incredible strong motion to the pocket, and the ball has minimal deflection as it drives through the pin deck.  This ball is just awesome!  This ball is a win for every type of bowler and is definite must for your bowling bag.  Feel free to contact me by email with any questions; troy_300_1999@yahoo.com.

BRUNSWICK VINTAGE INFERNO REVIEW

Ball Weight: 15 lbs.
Drill Pattern: 4 5/8” x 35*
X-hole: 1+ past PAP, 2.5" deep
PAP: 4 5/8” x 0” (up)
SPEED: 18.0 – 18.5 mph (release)
TILT: 17*
A.R. = 45*

How can you not love an updated version of one of the greatest balls of all time in the Inferno? I drilled the Brunswick Vintage Inferno to be a replacement for the Brute Strength in my lineup. I wanted that symmetric core pearl that picked up the mid lane, and made a strong move to the pocket. At box finish, I found the Vintage Inferno to be a little too early of a hook for where I wanted it to be in my arsenal. So, I changed the cover from stock (500 w/Crown Factory Compound) and brought it up to 2000 and polished it with Crown Factory Compound. What a difference! The Vintage Inferno goes those extra few feet, saving more energy and exploding off the spot as it shreds the rack. It really has replaced the Brute Strength in my bag as that "go to" pearl ball. I had a lot of success with it on THS, PBA Viper, and WTBA Atlanta. This ball fits perfectly in my lineup between the Magnitude 035 and Fire Pearl Quantum.  They are available now to order from your local pro shop, get one today!!!

The Inferno Series was a great series of balls that I had a lot of success with.  When I found out they were bringing back the Original I was very excited!  The Vintage Inferno takes me back to the days where I had several of the Orange and Black ones in the bag.  This one has been my first ball out of the bag on nearly everything since I drilled it and to me It rolls just like the Original.  It is very clean through the front part of the lane with that predictable arcing transition that I first fell in love with.  The low rg Inferno weight block allows the Vintage Inferno to rev up quickly, while the new Activator 2.0 Coverstock gives you the length you need.  I find this ball to fit in between the Magnitude 035 and the Quantum Classic Black.  It is a little quicker off the friction than the Magnitude 035 and a little slower than the Black Quantum.  In my opinion, this is the perfect benchmark ball.  If you are looking for that benchmark pearl, look no further than the Inferno.  Don’t miss out on the return of one of the best balls ever made.

This ball is a classic benchmark ball that can be thrown on a wide range of conditions.  It is very easy to read a pattern with this ball and decide what to do next.  However in most cases you will just keep on throwing it.  This ball reads the midlane well and makes a nice controllable move down lane.

Drilled my Vintage Inferno 40x4 5/8"x70 (pin below bridge) with no x hole thanks to the short pin.
The Vintage Inferno gives me moderate length, some hard revs in the midlane with a strong arcing backend motion that matches up really well for me when playing a mild swing on medium oiled lanes.  For a pearl, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the ball rolled through the oil and how it wasn't jumpy off the spot.  My pin down Fanatic (original) and Edge Pearl both are much more sensitive to oil (or lack there of) and my eye prefers seeing this look.  I am definitely considering drilling another Vintage Inferno pin up to give me most angle downlane for when I want to be inside 4th arrow.

I haven't bowled on too many interesting patterns lately, but our local centre has been cycling through new house patterns (we just got a flex) to dress for the fall season.  My best look was on 40' Stonehenge swinging 3rd arrow to 8 where I had to throw a terrible shot to miss the pocket.  The Vintage Inferno gave me enough hook to get into the oil, but the moderate response to friction prevented me from getting less than 9 if I got around the ball too much (my #1 miss) or caught the dry boards early.  I saw a similar look on 44' Big Ben, where I didn't have to worry about the ball skidding out if I got it too far into the puddle and again, the most trouble I would find on misses into the friction were 4's and 9's.

Compared to other balls in my bag, the Vintage Inferno is a full step stronger in oil than any of the other symmetric pearls in the Brunswick line (Edge Pearl, Jab, Diva Style, Freakshow and Fire Quantum) and is comparable in strength to the midrange Asyms (Xenos, Vandals).  It has replaced my pin down Brainiac in my bag and is my ideal #2 ball to use once my sanded balls start to read the fronts too early.
I recommend this ball for anybody who loves the look of symmetric balls on the lane and is looking for a strong pearl that can be used on a wide variety of patterns.

The Vintage Inferno is obviously this year’s release to the Brunswick Vintage line.  For those who look to this line to see what you saw back in the day when you threw the original releases, then this is the home run you are looking for.  In my eyes, this the carbon copy of what I saw back in 2003 or so when the first Inferno (my favorite of all the Inferno line) came out.  I drilled mine with a pin down, under the ring finger (same as my original back in the day) with a medium size hole 1.5 inches down the VAL.  I was hoping to get the same reaction as I did in my younger years.  For me this ball has exact same shape as the original.  It is a smooth strong consistent reaction you would expect from lower RG symmetrical core.  The pearl cover clears the front pretty easily, and it makes a nice smooth reaction off the back of the pattern.  Fit wise, it will be a little earlier and not as sharp as the Black Quantum, but much cleaner and more angular than the Magnitude.  For those that have been around a while and loved the original Inferno, or those who heard stories about how great is once as, then this is the ball for you.

COMMENTS
The Inferno Vintage brings back that sweet reaction just like the original Inferno.  I laid mine out with my favorite angles to produce a strong midlane roll and super continuous on the backend.  If you loved the original Inferno, you will love the remake.

Here is the new ball in the Vintage serie, the Inferno.  The ball offers the same coverstock as the original back 15 years ago.  At first, they tried the same coverstock as this original one but the cover was too weak for the modern environment.   So the engineers created the Activator 2.0 to have the same great performance in today’s game.

I drilled mine 60x4”x35 which is one of my favorite drilling.  On the lane, this ball rolls exactly how I can remember back in the days.  Because of the low RG core, this ball offers a really strong roll in the midlane and a very controllable backend.  Because of the pearl coverstock, the ball clears the heads easily.  Compared to the Blue flame, I play the Inferno two boards right with my feet and one board right with my eyes.  Compared to the DV8 Creed, I play the Inferno on the same spot but the difference is in the shape, which is much sooner.

For people with more speed or playing on heavier patern, the ball can be padded with a 1000 or even a 500 abralon and it still gonna get a great shape.

To conclude, if you wanna have a really controllable ball and a great look, the Inferno is you ball of choice.
