COMMENTS
I didn't know what this new ball would produce. I went with my normal pin below ring finger with cg kicked right with low weight hole. I was surprised with the easy length through the heads and very strong move at the break point. It reminds me a lot like a slightly milder Versa-Max, both were clean with easy length and that strong move when it came out of the oil pattern. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least and I did hit the surface lightly with a 2000 pad to just knock some shine off. The hit and carry of this ball is amazing and I can see this being my new benchmark ball. Great job to the people at Brunswick!
Likes: Love the solid black and it's reminds me of the Versa-Max, which was another great ball.

Dislikes:None so far, except I only have one!!

I just drilled up the LT-48 let's me start by saying nowni know why Johnny was so damn good back in the back. This ball I used on a typical house shot. Talk about clean through the heads I honestly don't think this ball even knows what the heads looks like it blows right through them. As for the back end on this ball...WOW!!! Amazing just a smooth arching reaction. Even with getting it inside this ball held and I sent a couple outside and it hit just as hard. This is a all around sleeper of a ball. I have this ball drilled pin up over the bridge CG kicked out and a low weight hole which is my favorite drilling, I would recommend you putting your favorite drilling on this ball as you will really be impressed with it's versatility. Don't be surprised if you order a case and save a few because it's that damn good. ENJOY

The Johnny Petraglia LT-48 remake is a real tribute to the game of Mr. Petraglia himself.  It is long, smooth, and it strikes a lot!  I wanted my LT-48 to be a smoother shape so I chose a layout with a larger angle sum to take advantage of the balls intended reaction.  This ball has been exactly what I imagined it to be and comes into play once my Melees are too strong.  It is about 3 and 1 weaker than my shinier pin up Melee and very similar to my Ringer.  The similarities end there as the Ringer is much more angular than the New Vintage LT-48.  The Petraglia gets such easy length that I don't have to push it down the lane and I can get back to my roots as a slow hook guy.  Typically with smoother weaker balls I am not able to get inside and open up my angles as much.  The LT-48 is the exception to this rule and recovers really well when being thrown away from the pocket.  It flat out crushed the 10 pin out!  The drier the lanes get the more boards you can cover.  I never had to worry about this one quitting.  If you are looking for great length with a smooth but strong backend reaction check out the New Vintage Johnny Petraglia Lt-48.

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Brunswick has a great idea with the Vintage line. For those who can remember the legendary LT-48, it was the ball all others were compared to in the 70’s bearing the name of one of the greatest ever. This release preserves the shape from days gone by. It is very clean and long with a smooth and continuous move on the back end. For comparison purposes think in terms of a slightly weaker version of the C-System Versa Max in terms of shape on the lane. I’ve used this ball on broken down Kegel Beaten Path on old high friction THS surface. It got through the burn in the mids and was able to store energy sufficient for it to move on the back end. You can certainly use this ball on a fresh house shot if you need to smooth out the over/under. If you crack the cover on this ball it will be a little earlier and more even front to back. Brunswick has created a very usable and versatile piece here. It may not be “flashy” on the lane but, it is more than capable in getting the job done. It’s classic black color is cool since the ball just seems to glide down the lane.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 39 ft.

Volume:  Heavy from 10 to 10

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS
Layout: Pin roughly 4" from PAP and below the fingers.

Likes: At first I thought this ball was too weak, except for the dry lanes.  After putting 5-6 games on it to burn a little gloss off, I was very wrong!  It became a very nice arc reaction that was still clean through the front half of the lane.  I still use it fairly close to friction, and absolutely love the way it reads what's there.

Dislikes: None whatsoever!

Ball Reviewing: LT 48
Ball Surface:  OOB
Layout used:  75x5x65 same as Melee
Oil Pattern:  House Shot

How did the ball roll & react:  My LT 48 rolled extremely even and had a really nice smooth arc to it.  It’s very versatile where I can play straighter angles and also move in if I have to.  After a couple weeks throwing it, I wanted to see what it would do with a little surface to it.  I just scuffed it up by hand with a 2000 pad and it made the ball even better.  More control in the mids and backend.

Did you compare this ball to another ball? If so which one:  If I were to compare this ball to others, I would say it’s a perfect mixture of the Versa Max and Melee.  It has the midlane control of the Versa and the backend motion of the Melee.  Cleaner than the Melee and a bit more pop in the backend.

Strengths & weakness’s of the ball:  The strength is the versatility and control it has.  Can play straight angles and open up the lane as well.  For some it might be too clean, but knocking the shine off a little turns the LT into a monster

The LT-48 is a remake of the original by name only. This ball has the newest technological advances of core and coverstock. The core of this ball is big and creates an even rolling arc type of motion. The cover is a lower friction solid black that has just enough hook. This ball is good for medium to lighter oil conditions. The LT-48 would be a good option when the Melee or Strike King is hooking too much and you need a ball to play straighter through the fronts. I drilled mine with a 3" Pin to Pap to allow me to play further right and it works perfectly even with my higher rev rate. I bowl in a late league on wood lanes, and I am able to play about 4 boards further right than a strike king, but still have enough motion on the back to knock all 10 down. With the solid coverstock, it is less angular when reaching the friction. If the lanes really break down in a tournament, I can use my LT-48 in order to stay closer to the friction and not have to open up my angles.

COMMENTS
I have used the new Vintage LT-48 over the past 8 weeks. I started using this ball at the factory finish. On the fresh the ball was a little over/under so I had to make sure I kept my angles straighter and my speed slower.  As the night went on, I was able to move in and start to open up the lane more.  I decided to sand the ball with a 2k SIAAR pad to smooth out the over/under.  After the surface change, I was still able to get great, easy, length through the heads while giving me a more suitable down lane reaction. The Vintage LT-48 would be a great ball for seniors or bowlers with lower ball speed looking to control the motion at the break point.  The solid cover still gets great length while offering a good amount of predictability and control at the break point that many of the balls on the market can't match. Being a pro shop operator that mainly sells Storm and Roto Grip equipment . . . I can honestly say that this release a long with a few others, has opened my eyes to Brunswick's product line. Being in an old wood center, this ball will be my first recommendation for any bowler looking to fill a void in their Med-light oil ball slot.

COMMENTS

Likes:With throwing 13lb balls I get a true feel of how good the coverstocks truly are. 13lb Symmetricals have the same core shape as the Danger Zones and roll really good. I have to say....this release really took me by surprise. The fast revving core and easy length provided me with a reaction I haven't seen out of a shiny solid since the Versa Max was discontinued. Black is the color of choice for me as the ball just doesn't ever look erratic. That smooth look is total money. This ball has been the biggest surprise of the 2014 year. If you don't have one of these, you need to get one before they're gone!!

Dislikes:Nothing and the fact it wont be around forever!

Layout 5 ½ pin (80 degree VAL)

I’m a heavy roller with about a 350 rev rate.  Don’t have much axis tilt, don’t get around the ball much and struggle lots of times to get a ball to retain energy and corner at the pins.

The LT48 probably unintentionally reminded me of the C-System Versa Max.  The easy comparison because the Versa Max will ultimately be one of my favorite balls of all time and it’s black.  I do have a thing for black bowling balls as I’ve said in previous reviews.
The LT48 was a little too clean on the lane for me.  But I hit it with 4000 just to take the shine off and saw better reaction off the dry.  Got the ball into a roll and drove through the pins well.

The ball is best for medium to dry lanes.  I had no problems playing square up the boards on a league shot as well as from the inside as the lanes transitioned.  I look forward to the next Vintage release from Brunswick coming this year.  They have really made some incredible pieces over the last few years and have a complete arsenal to fit all styles of player.

broken down house shots and shorter sport patterns

I was looking for a ball to replace my over used versa-max when i read the specs and reviews on the LT-48. I drilled the LT-48 very similar to the versa-max with a pin down right under the fingers. I found that it clears the heads very easily and has predictable and controlled backends. Not quite as strong as the versa-max but a very good replacement for it. overall i am very pleased and happy with the LT-48. It is always in my bag!

DIDNT PLAY AROUND TO MUCH ON FRESH BUT WHEN I HAD THE CHANCE IT IS A GREAT BALL TO START WITH. LOVE IT ON DRY. SUPER SUPER SMOOTH AND STRONGER THEN IT LOOKS.

I drilled this ball 45 x 4 1/4 x 35 with no weight hole.

I have drilled all of the Brunswick releases over the past 2 yrs, EXCEPT THIS ONE.  All I can say is I do not know why it took my this long to drill this ball.  IT IS AMAZING!!!!!. Easy length is an understatement and the move on the back is smooth and strong and the carry is just ridiculous. This ball paid for itself the first night I used it and has a permanent space in my bag, whether or not I used it. This is the perfect ball to complete your arsenal hands down.
