"Cherry Bomb"...Why is it the most popular Lane#1 ball?
« on: February 28, 2007, 12:37:51 AM »
Im curious....Maybe some of you out there can clear this up for me. Everytime a Cherry Bomb comes up for sale on Ebay people go nuts over this ball. Whether it is new or used their seems to be a love affair with this perticular ball. I dont own any Lane#1 equipment.....but i have friends who swear by it. Ive seen the Carbide Bomb,Carbide Plus,Dirty Bomb,XXXL,Gold Nugget and other Lane#1 balls in action.....they all hit the same..."hard", But I have noticed that the Cherry Bomb seems to be the cream of the crop. My question is....Is the Cherry Bomb really that great of a ball?

I didn't know it was.  I actually disliked mine when I had it.

awesome cover, awesome core, was a pearl that moved hard on the back, hit was exceptional, softer handed people loved this combo, it was not my favorite but at the top,

just something about it those that had it love it and are always looking for a back up and those that never had it are looking to try it, thus supply and demand catch up and it goes thru the roof

I agree with trig.....alot of hype from those that loved it. I personally didn't like mine. Did shoot 300/795 with it first night out but found it very inconsistent for me afterwards. I gave it to my wife as she has alot less hand and she loved it for light oil lanes. I replaced it for her with a pearl Viper and sold it to crazyyankee and he swears by it. I personally liked the Cherry C/2 much better.

I'm one of the folks who had one and didn't care too much for it.   But it was more the layout  than the ball.  I found that drilling this ball stacked just didn't work well, at least for me.  Too touchy or over/under for my taste.  When it was good, it was very good, but more often than not, it just wasn't good (for me).  I've thought about getting another and using a different layout, but I already have 10 or so 'Saws and have sworn to lay off buying for a while.

Flogg...ive noticed the ones who do have them are softer hand players....my hand is not soft...."im working on it"......Maybe i need to throw one to get a good visual. From the way this thing rolls...it reminds me of my Depth Charge.

If its like that...i may be interested..LoL!

The Cherry C/2 is my all-time favorite ball from any company.  I wish Lane#1 would re-release it, but I guess that will never happen with them moving to Columbia and now Ebonite owning Columbia.

Yes, it has been the first ball out of my bag since I got it drilled about a month and a half ago.  I usually can use it all night on our THS with minimal moves or changes in hand position.  It gets through our oiled heads, revs in the midlane, and takes off when it hits the dry backends.  Just destroys the rack.  Very good ball.  If you get one, just be sure to kick the CG out at least an inch because I have heard that this ball doesn't work too well with the CG under the grip center.

Thanks for that....Ive been looking for a Game 1 ball.....They have put some sort of a reverse block on our mens league here. I bought a Smash time particle....its alright, but im still looking.

I have had my eye on the Cobalt Solid though

I don't bowl on a reverse block but I can tell you that my Bomb Solid will hold the line if I tug it inside.  If you like to play the boards closer to the gutter, I don't think it will make it back to the pocket though.  You might want to look at the new Fury also.

The Fury is that strong?.....didnt know that....I will difinitely look into it....thanks

By the way...it`s not a total reverse block...but it seemed like one. They have a flood from ten to the gutter at times.
