Title: *RUMOR* Power Groove Reactive
Post by: agroves on May 08, 2004, 04:42:24 AM
I picked up my wife a new ball today.  I noticed that the new Power Grooves were in.  I saw the teal/purple one.  I got to talkin with the proshop guy and he said they used the activator cover on that one.  He was told this by his distributor.  Maybe this is old news, but i do not remember hearing anything about it.

I have not heard anything about this.

I am also very dubious about this, but anything is possible.

There are a TON of Ultimate Infernos around here and they hit harder, or as hard as tghat I have ever seen, LITERALLY! They may "die" early, bu tuntil then, this is THE BALL for all types of of releases. (And I am not particularly a Brunswick fanatic.)

Interesting rumor, but that sounds a little far-fetched.  I could see them possible dropping the Activator coverstock to Monster (mid-priced) status, but not entry level reactive.  I haven't seen many UI's in my neck of the woods, but it seems the original Inferno's coverstock "lasted" as advertised.  Perhaps that's the nature of pearlized Activator.

On a side note, I thought I read somewhere that Brunswick was using a new color mixing process to get the color seperation that you see on the new solid Power Groove.

Next Level is right, there's no WAY B would put Activator on that low priced of a ball.  Lol, so needless to say, tell your pro shop guy to read the stat sheet that comes with every ball where they have all the specs listed.  They will eventually drop Activator to the "new" midpriced line, but not until their newest coverstock is finished and on the new master line.

Well i heard the same rumor about one of the old power grooves.  They said there was some kind of mix up in the coverstock and it turned out to be a whole lot more ball than it should have been for the price.  This was one of the old colors though.

I've read that the Ice Blue was ... different.

My Ice Blue is way stronger than I thought it would be. I got it for dry lanes, and it does great, it has alot more carry than I thought it would. I'm averaging 180 with it on the right conditions. Best investment I've made so far.

From what I hear this is the best core design that Brunswick has in its line. I hear these are better than the monster series.

I have a new purple and teal Groove.  The drill sheet says it still has the PK 17 cover.   I don't have anything with Activator yet, but the PK 17 seems much more agressive than my old Saphire Zone ever did.  I still thinkl the Power Grooves are the best kept secret in bowling.  If Brunswick keeps them around, I'm going to sell the HELL out of them!!!!!
