Third Ball Choice?
« on: March 03, 2008, 06:42:19 AM »
I have two balls now in my arsenal, Total Inferno (drilled a little shorter with a moderate back end) and a Total NV (drilled longer with the same back end as the inferno.  I forget the numbers they total was somewhere in the 70's on both.  What would be a good third ball to add?  Inferno is used for med-heavy conditions and the NV is for dry-med conditions.  Do I need something in the middle or something stronger than the inferno?  I guess for now I do not need anything, just have the itch to buy something new again.  I average 180, and I was blessed to be born lefty.  I have been looking at a lot of Morich and The roto grip cell, I just want a ball that hits the pocket hard, and to waste more of my money on this great sport.

Cell is the best bang for the buck for a high end ball. Go with it!

You might start by asking that question on the Morich & Roto boards, LOL.  Might start a war on the Bruns board.  That said, I'd try the Cell.  Lots of good reviews & price is right.  Coverstock very versatile also.  JMO.  Oh, & they're made in the USA,  >>>>>running fast>>>>>

I thought about posting this somewhere else, since I already have a Brunswick I thought I might get more Brunswick recommendations as well.  I talked to a gentlemen today who said that the Rampage or Avalanche might work best in my arsenal because they are both less than my NV.  He might be right because my Total Inferno is pretty strong to start, and my NV is good to go to when I come in heavy, but by then I am almost done bowling.  I am just buying for the sake of buying and have heard good things about the Cell, also about the Twisted Fury.  Would they be overlap on my Inferno though?  I love trying to figure this stuff out.

Thanks for the replies.

Go with Morich alot of people score very high with them. High priced balls but they hit like a tank.

Target Zone and a lesson. No I'm not busting your stones. They can become you best average gainers and usually will cost you less if your open minded.
If you choose the easy BW syndrome. Avalanche solid+little polish. It should give you early to medium read with a controlled backend when conditions get tough to control your other two pieces. Just thoughts..

I agree with the spare ball, I already have an Ebonite Maxim.  I should have posted that.  I also agree that a lesson would be effective.  However, between work, law school, leagues, daughter, and more work on top of the fact I live in New Prague, MN makes it very difficult for me to take time to go to a lesson.  I want to be above the 200 level, but do not have the time it takes to invest to do so.

I like the Rampage idea, too. It handles about the same type condition as your Total NV, just in a slightly more predictable way. It's a hybrid cover that can go shiny or dull very effectively. Great price, too.

Bah!  The best bang for your buck for oil is a Fury.  They are very inexpensive online ($79).  It is more ball than I can deal with right out of the box, so I had to change the NIB surface, but if you want a ball for oil that isn't like a Mammoth heavy particle, the Fury is about as good as it gets.

The MoRich balls are great in the oil.  If you go that route, check out the LevRG.  If you can find a Total Shock and Awe (reactive) or Seek and Destroy (particle) those are super oilers as well.  A lot of the guys in our house are throwing them for the oiler patterns.
