1st league night w/ SWARM - Update added

Well I had been struggling as of late in our league so I figured what have I got to lose? We bowl 4 games, moving 1 pair each game. Plenty of oil.

Threw the Swarm for the first time, and shot a respectable 999 series. Played a down and in shot around 7-8 board all night, and this ball has some serious "guts" at the pins. I will post a more detailed review after I've thrown it more, and at a few different houses, so stay tuned...

By the way, mine is drilled 4x4 below fingers, no balance hole needed, factory surface.

I have seen the first staffer Swarm ball (undrilled at that time) here in Germany. First thing it reminded me of was the Yellow/Chrome Power Groove. The red engravings enhance this impression.

Nice bowling, Lane.

999 may be respectable in the PBA, but when you move a pair each game, a 250 average is great bowling! Congrats!

Nice bowling!

I seen the Swarm at my local pro-shop the other day.  The ball has shelf appeal.  I can't wait to see one go down the lane in person!

Thanks everyone, it was "messenger city" with this ball. I did leave one 9 pin that the messenger missed, one or two 7 pins, and a few 10 pins, but the Swarm seems to save lots of energy for the pins (as evidenced by two 850+ sets in Hawaii).

snowgimp, it was Valley Lanes. New ownership, new lighting, new lane machine, lots of oil from about 8 board in, and enough outside that if you miss right, it's a washout most of the time.

CP, sorry, I haven't joined the current century with my photography equipment so posting pics will be difficult, if not impossible. Black and yellow with florescent yellow finger inserts and yellow thumb mold. It does have shelf appeal, which is always a bonus for sales. I hope Brunswick is making a ton of them...

I'm just hoping there will be some 16s available before the start of the Winter season.

Ray,

Just bite the bullet and throw 15... I'm starting to wonder if you're as old as you say.

Let me throw them side by side (maybe tomorrow) and let you know. It's actually been about a month since I've thrown the Twisted. I try to bowl less during the summer and golf more.

I WILL try to answer your question, though.

Kody42,

Almost as soon as I finished my last post a friend called needing a sub at a different house tonight. I'm up for bowling when there's nothing else going on, so I said yes. Unlike last night, this one IS a typical house shot. Oil inside, dry outside, pick a shot and pretty much stay there without moving much...

During warm-ups I threw the Swarm and Twisted Fury on almost identical lines, but my Twisted has a slightly weaker pin placement so I needed a small move outside. On this night, and this condition, etc, the Swarm was more angular for me so I stuck with it and shot a "triplicate" 245 series.

I'm clearly not this good, but the Swarm is.  I played much more lane tonight, because it was available, and this ball is money!

This is not much of a test between the two, so I've got to find some time within the next few days for a more accurate comparison.

kody42,
Don't be afraid to experiment with the Twisted. 2000 abralon seems to give many the right combination of mid-lane read and recovery. If that's still not quite right, you may want to re-drill it.
In their ball video Brunswick recommended going about 1/2" closer to leverage than normal with it due to the cover and core combination. I drilled my Swarm pretty strong and don't regret it. I'm actually having a great time watching this ball react and hit. Let me know if I can help any further.
