Monster Frenzy to Punisher
« on: March 04, 2007, 11:03:21 AM »
I loved my Monster Frenzy when I first got it.
I like to play around 10 board with a little down and in.
The Frenzy was great because it would go long and had a good backend and hit hard.

My question is; is the BVP Punisher a solid replacement for the Frenzy?
I want a similar reaction.
You stop laughing right meow!

My opinion:
The Punisher will cover the same amount of oil patterns as the Frenzy, but will do so in a slightly flippier manner, with the same drilling pattern.

Hmmm...my experiences with the Punisher were *very* different.  The Punisher was nice and clean in front, but it was more like a SlayR in back than a Frenzy, as it wanted to lay off down the lane.  I had a Punisher and a Frenzy both drilled 4L, and the Frenzy was a board or two stronger overall, but it had a much more predictable move at the break, especially as the lanes underwent transition.

Wow! That is really, really different from every Punisher I've ever seen.
Yes, My Slay/R lays off quite a bit - super arc-y ball. No punisher I've ever used or see has ever laid off in the back. In fact, on our light oil lanes, I've rarely seen a flippier, stronger backend until the Ebonite One series came along.

Maybe it's that 4L drill. On my SlayRs I had one like 4L and one like 4E (but with the pin under the center of the bridge). The 4E was more continuous, but still arc-y. The 4L one was nothing but arc. It could affect the Punisher the same way.

Have you had any drilled more normally, like a 4" pin-PAP?

No, I haven't, although I may try to pick one up when/if they go on closeout.

Funny thing, though...I've used the 4L in a polished Nemesis, and in a Rampage, and both have been *significantly* sharper at the break than the Punisher ever was.  I wonder if it's an N'Control thing...

Mine too! My Nemesis is either useless or uncontrollably sharp with the 4 drillings. Don't want to re-drill it; but I've tried every surface change known.
