Activator vs. PK18
« on: January 04, 2005, 11:30:01 PM »
What are the differences in the two coverstocks, pearl Activator and pearl PK18?  Is one more skid/snappy; one better for carrydown, etc.  Any info you can give me on their properties/intended use is greatly appreciated.  Thanks....JS

Activator, for any given level of surface preparation, is generally considered to be more aggressive in oil. My impression when I first threw Activator was that it almost had characteritics of a particle ball, the way it gripped.

When PK 18 was first introduced in the old Danger Zone it was about the strongest reactive shell on the market. When Activator was introduced on the original Inferno it represented a step up in strength similar to what PK 18 had done in 1996 for the DZ. Only Brunswick knows exactly what the chemical differences are in the makeup of a PK 18 shell versus an Activator shell.

Yep. What Bob said.
I actually thought the cover on my Ultimate WAS particle - I'd not looked up the specs.
