Original Inferno vs Ultimate Inferno

If I have my Original wet sanded to 800 grit, will it not become an Ultimate?  Based on their specs, it looks like the surface finish is the only difference in these two balls.  

The reason I'm asking, is that the house I bowl in has just put down a heavier oil pattern and I need something for that condition.  I don't want to buy another ball as they might change back to the old shot and I don't run into a lot of heavy oil at the other houses in my area.  Also, I have other ball that will handle medium conditions.

The O.I. is pearlized while the U.I. is a solid.  Even if they are both at 800 grit, the U.I. has more hook potential and can handle more oil than the O.I.

FWIW...about three years ago, I had both drilled identically (5 x 5, pin above fingers), and at the same surface prep (400 wet sand, and a coat of High Gloss polish), the Ultimate was a few feet longer but much stronger at the break, and hooked about two or three boards more overall.

I agree wholeheartedly, the two covers are vastly different.  A solid will read the lane earlier and be more of an "arc" versus the pearl which goes longer and turns sharper if the backends aren't sloppy.
