Alpha Max or Ebonite NVD?
« on: January 24, 2011, 09:16:07 AM »
Looking for a strong ball that will work well in heavier oil.  Have been toying with maybe getting a NVD, but with the rebate, the cost for the Alpha Max would be about the same.  Which would be the better choice for oil, with good mid-lane and still have decent backend?  I'm a tweener, right around 13.5-14mph at the pins, but am looking to increase my speed a bit in the future.  Right now, on heavier oil, I have to slow my ball down even more and point more towards the pocket than I prefer.

Alpha-Max is strong as advertised!

Is the NVD even made anymore?

The NVD is out of production, but NIB ones can still be found.  Do you have a Alpha Max?  If so, how is the mid-lane, or is most of the reaction at the back?

drilled my alpha max yesterday, pin up 5in away from axis and threw it last night. first few shots off my hand i noticed how many boards it wanted to cover. so i made a big jump left and was playing 30 across 17 at the arrows and this ball had NO problem making it back to the pocket. and as the night went on ended up playing 35 across 20. it read the mids very nice and still had unbelievable continuation through the pin deck. with that much angle i would usually leave a lot of corners but only left two in four games.  i would stick with the alpha max over the NVD. the $50 rebate is a big bonus plus the proven longevity of Brunswick coverstocks.
