Anybody else wishing the same?
« on: September 16, 2012, 06:00:01 AM »
I wish Brunswick brought back the Damage... Anybody else who agrees with me?

Very High RG Pearl + PK18 = Straighter, easier to play, more revs conserved for backend, happy me

I liked the Damage, but for me the Massive Damage was even better!

Where would it fit into the current arsenal? I don't want overlap, but versatility in the lineup! That's the problem I'm seeing in tournaments where you have to bowl a lot of games without reoil. It may fit between the Karma urethane and Karma solid, but I'd rather see a milder coverstock on that core than the PK18. Here's a ball I always liked back in the day for the lighter/drier lane conditions:

I can only generate 13-14mph ball speed due to my small body with 250-300rpm, hence I tend to match up well with high RG+mild coverstocks.
For extremely slow ball speed bowlers like me, I need a straighter angle, and all the rotational energy I can get at the pins to carry more.

Karma green was pretty good as well but doesnt seem to preserve the revs as well.
Karma pink was stronger cover hence I had to drill it weaker.

Im sure you will see more of the pk18 cover used for many more years to come. Activator+ pearl is my current all time favorite. It was last used on the massive damage and now the pink karma.

+1.  More versatile.  One of the most under-rated balls to come out in a long time.

The damage is a one of a kind type of ball. I got a karma pearl, the purple and pink one thinking it would be the same style ball and it was not the same.
But 100% agree.

Activator plus pearl is the cover used on the pink karma. That is absolutly nothing like the pk18. Way newer and stronger cover used on balls like the Anaconda and Massive Damage.

If you are looking for a damage type of roll, then check out the new Brunswick Meanstreak, http://www.bowlwithbrunswick.com/balls/detail/meanstreak/ . Check out the video on the page to see the motion which reminds me of the damage. The Meanstreak has a higher RG core with a new Addaptive f(p²) Pearl coverstock. It should be a little weaker than the C*(System) versa-max, but still have that strong motion through the pins.

I was just going to make a post asking what ball is weaker than the Karma green pearl and not as weak as a Slingshot. If the Damage is weaker than the Karma green pearl then thats what I'll be searching for. Does anybody have another option or two?
Thanks

My Avalanche pearl was the same strength as my Slingshot, both drilled pin over center of bridge. I think you'd have to drill the slingshot strong and put an earlier reacting surface on it to place it above a polished, mildly drilled Slingshot. Maybe a 3-5" - 4" pin to PAP Slingshot with maybe a 1500 - 2000 grit matte surface.

Thanks Charlest, I have a slingshot with the pin above the bridge. I have scored with it when I could use it. I was thinking about getting another one and drilling it stronger. Do you think I can get away with changing the cover on my pin instead, if so what should I change it to? Thanks again.
