Title: Ball below the Versa Max
Post by: BigHorhn on March 27, 2012, 04:49:57 PM
The subject says it all. I was thinking about one of the Karma bowling balls. Is that to much of a step down? I need it for drier lanes. Thanks

The Pink/Purple Karma is the next step below the Versamax.  The ball will handle breakdown and lighter patterns but not truely dry lanes.   The slingshot is better suited to the truely toasty stuff. Just have your ball driller apply the appropriate layout and enjoy!

i'll give you 2 things to think about. you can drill another versa-max to ball down to.(weaker drilling & or higher polish) or another would be to drill the pink/purple karma pearl.

i've done both options & there is no one single answer to the 2 options above which is the better for you.

the way mine perform are when i go to #2 versa-max, it's a longer pin to pap with taller pin height. that works well when you have to move in on medium to longer broken down patterns. or if i want something that still clears the fronts but a little smoother reaction on the back, i go to the pink/purple karma pearl. i had success with both, but it depends on what you're specifically looking for.

Versa-max #2 is drilled 5 1/4 pin to pap. pin 1" above middle finger no.weight hole. box finish.

pink/purple karma is 5" pin from pap, drilled thru the middle finger. no weight hole. box finish.

versa-max #1 is 4" pin to pap. pin height 3" up. box finish. no weight hole.

good luck with your decision.

Thanks guys, you both have good opinions. I was thinking the same thing. I was looking for some verification. I think I will drill another versa max with a weak drill. My first one has the pin and cg stacked next and a little below my ring finger. I was surprised at how long I was able to use it when the pattern got burned out. A longer pin one should do the trick. I already have a slingshot, so I should be covered. Thanks again
