Brunswick Success (edited first post)
« on: February 19, 2009, 01:23:17 PM »
Hey everyone, just thought i'd make a post about this.

I just recently decided to take the plunge and try out some BigB equipment. I've always wanted to, but I tried staying brand loyal to Hammer, which is slowly ending. My first Brunswick was a Fury.. but we sure won't get into that.

Anyways, my second BigB ball is the Blast Zone. I bought it used from a user on here, and he just so happens to have the same span as me and thumb. Very odd, but i'm happy. The way it's drilled is a 5.5" pin, 4.5" MB layout for me. Here comes a little "FIGJAM" but i'm just happy to say this! I shot 724, 745, 701 as my first 3 series out of the used ball box with this ball. I've NEVER done that before. The Blast Zone gets down the lane, sets up, and just rolls into the pocket. A very smooth, even roll, with HARD hitting power.

Next up, I got the brand new Wild Ride. The ball is drilled 4" pin, 4 3/4" MB layout for me. This ball is definition of control and reliability. I feel as if this will be a ball that can come through when nothing else will. It gets super easy length, with a controllable flip off the backend. The only problem I feel this ball has is its' forgivness. If you throw it out too much, prepare for washout city. Otherwise, the ball is absolute money. Very hard hitting power. I thought nothing hit like a Hammer til you throw a Brunswick. Dang.

Last, but not least, my Smash Zone just got drilled up tonight. I can't wait to take this puppy out.

2/21 UPDATE: Had my first chance to take out my Smash Zone today in league. Right out of the box, 256 game 697 series. The ball is tremendous. It rolls just how I expected, too. It has a sweet coverstock around a Low RG core, so that sounds to me like Hammer Pyscho, in a way. The Smash is clean through the heads with a hard, continuous arc off the break. What a ball this thing is. I left a pocket 8 and a pocket 9, which I usually don't. The hit was just great and the reaction was great along with it.

Now.. I can't wait to get my MaXXX Zone!

Thanks for reading this long post! I'm just very happy with these pieces. Here's the pics of all that has been talked about.

Brian,

Many of us have hit the Smash Zone with a white scotch brite to knock off some of the gloss. It's the same cover as the Twisted Fury so it gets easy length. Very nice hitting piece.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.

Lane, thanks for the advice. I will remember that. Most of the time I don't need to sand a ball, and when I do, it becomes over/under for me. I know that's odd, but for my game and conditions I face, any surface that's dull sacrifices hitting power and hook. I will still keep that in mind!

NJ, sarge easter is officially retired. I was not comfortable with the grip and I have enough reverse in my ring finger that I can't even feel the bump. A full finger tip ball comes off my hand so much cleaner.

Sanding it or just takling away the polish hardly negates the ball's excellent length through the heads - but it makes the piece IMHO much more effective and versatile.

Dizzy, thank you for the comment. The SZ must really be pretty clean through the front then. The only thing that sucks is that I don't have access to 4000 grit pads. I'll have to buy one, just in case I need one.

Oh Brian, do any of these pieces say "BLunswick" on them?  If not, you got JIPPED!  Or maybe it was me that got Jipped..hmmmm, either way!

Brian,

If you can find a white scotch brite it will still leave the ball looking shiny, just help it to read a tad earlier. Still easy length just less over/under reaction.

Hmmm... No Blunswicks yet! I'll let you know when I get one.

Lane, i'll check my local supermarket for a white scotch brite then! I'm sure it'll come in handy. Thanks!

Brian,

White ones will most likely be found at auto body supply or wood working places. I've never seen them in the "traditional" stores.
