Violet Quantum?
« on: October 29, 2007, 01:47:48 PM »
Won this piece (remake I do believe) on ebay not too long ago. Dad decided why not to get it when the price was so low. So what am I to expect out of this ball for today's conditions? Any suggestions on how to drill it? How I bowl is in my profile as well as what I use at tournaments. Thanks in advance!

this was an aggressive reactive resin ball and was intended for oily lanes. it came from the factory wetsanded 320 grit. it had a low rg( 2.38 )and had a high differential( 0.055 ). since it came out in 1995 it probably featured powrkoil 18 coverstock with the familiar mushroom shaped core. this would still be a good ball for oily lanes. no special drilling patterns would be required either.

Really? Wow! I was thinking of a 6 inch pin to pap, pin high, hole down if it allows. Get length then let the hole down let it roll a little at the end of the pattern while being controllable. Could this work?

PowerKoil 17 is mellow as it is.
that ball will barely wrinkle with that layout.

4-5" Pin to PAP should be OK for a good controlable reaction.

Okay, thanks Mav! What cover was on the Morich Ravage, loved that cover for the short period I had it.

Yup - and you might look into the Awesome Finish if you want a PK18 ball with a MoRich core - even though it is thze much stronger Vanguard core with a low RG setup due to 2 added low density caps.
