Title: Balls Cracked in half even stored safely
Post by: LeoAnalyn on October 05, 2006, 03:14:56 AM
2 Balls just crack 360 even I have it in a Bowling rack place in one of my room with the room temperature 78 - 79 degrees. I built the rack coz one of my ball HPH cracked 3 years ago which I have it store in my garage so that why I built a rack for all of my balls and placed in that room for almost a year now.
Now my question is how can I avoid getting my other balls from cracking.

Happens on  Fuze Pearl and Attacked zone.  The Fuze was just used 3 months ago and both ball even has no sign of hairline damage.

Your out west like me nothing you can do i have some in closets with no air flow that last forever and some in an a/c room that crack anyway. I have lost at least 15 balls cracking in half over the last 7 years, but i have had at least 700 plus balls in that time also.

I did wonder about that coz my HPH did cracked when it was in the Garage but it crack inch by inch for a while but my other 2 is in a controlled temperature it crack instantly all around.

I keep mine in the garage sometime over the winter... in my car over the summer.. and everywhere imagineable.. and I've never had one crack.

So what you think about that!?!? Lol.

Over my 40 years of bowling I've never personally had one of my bowling balls split like that.....but as a Pro Shop guy for 20 years I've seen some from every company. I had a Columbia Pro Hook (undrilled) on the shelf with our old ball collection in the shop and it split all the way around overnight. One day it's fine....the next day you could drop two quarters side by side into the crack.

Yes, I would chaulk it up to uncontrolled bad luck.

I actually forgot to even post what I was going to. HA

I have had a few balls do that to me recently being in Vegas and the weather changing a bunch. They are in my room on the floor and just crack in half. I had a Storm Tour Power do it. I had a BLANK Ebonite Formula 1 just recently do it. I had a Storm Trifecta do it. So yes it does happen and there sometimes isn't much you can do about it. Except as BrunsBob would say:

Yes, I would chaulk it up to uncontrolled bad luck.

I am thinking that the balls' resin or other material dries out.  All of my balls that have cracked were exposed to the air.  Maybe that is why most balls come NIB inside a plastic bag?  I will be storing my balls in plastic bags to see if that helps.

Now, if anyone has had a plastic ball crack 360 degrees like these, that would prove me wrong.
